We’ve got a big one this week - Mean-E is in the building! The young DJ and producer is one of the hottest talents in the electro/breakbeat scene at the moment. 

He’s currently working 2 EP’s, but has had releases on labels such as Lobster Theremin, Crazed Behaviour & Gimme A Break just to name a few, with more coming out on different VA’s over the next few weeks.

This mix is a snapshot of some of his favourite electro releases from the past couple of months - we hope you enjoy!

For our first instalment of the mix series, we've asked our good friend and one of our first guests, Kai Kaspar, to get involved. Kai has recorded what he's labelled a 'Feel Good Mix for Sad Times', and we certainly agree, so turn up your speakers and get dancin'! 

As 1/2 of Dundee's FO:RMAT collective, Kai has built up a great reputation in Dundee. His student years have seen him play many a time at Dundee's fallen church of underground music, The Reading Rooms, where he threw some of the best student parties Dundee has ever seen.

Today’s show is hosted by Brazilian-born Macro Assembler!  Macro is now based in Cologne and Berlin. He is a resident at a street rave party called SUJO from Brasilia in Brazil and Hölle in Berlin. 
 
This mix is full of gritty fast-paced electro, techno & more! We kind of get a sense of what it’d be like to be at a rave with Marco Assembler firmly at the selectors' desk. He used to DJ north Germany-Rostock over a period of 3 years, at raves taking place in an old WWII bunker.
 
He is currently running his label called Program And Control with his homie Data Assault backing him up and helping him run it.

MacroAssembler Guest mix S4 EP 07

Introducing our new podcast series Cued Up - listen back to our recent virtual chat with none other than Dublin’s own DJ and Producer, R.kitt.

R.Kitt is a DJ/producer from Dublin who has been making music for the last decade and has played extensively on the Irish festival and club circuit, including international gigs in London and Berlin. He’s also well known for hosting a local collective night called Dip with friends Cáit, Enda and Jenn, in a community arts space called Jigsaw. With a string of EP releases on local and international labels to his name, his focus has recently shifted to working alongside Sunil Sharpe on the Give Us the Night campaign since 2018. Over the next few months, he hopes to work on building a sound system and look into alternative spaces where people can gather and listen to electronic music. As well as this, if the pandemic anxiety allows for it, hopefully, he’ll release some more music and share a few mixes that aim to get you moving a bit faster on your bike. 

Robbie chats to Robert and Rossa from the society, focusing on topics in the nightlife industry such as mental health, writer’s block, the Give Us The Night campaign, as well a few funny stories from over the years. The closing mix is provided by our own society member Mark Colclough.
