'Past Midnight' is a contemporary interpretation of retro dance music delivered by Atlanta-based Mister Sweatband through three original tracks. The EP features three distinct club tracks that give hope of never-ending nights dancing in a sweaty room, delivered through rolling basslines, memorable arpeggios, and long pads.

The release is opened by 'Past Midnight' and closed by an alternative version of the track, a Midnight Mix filled with hope and emotion. The Main Mix arrives as a happy definition of Indie Dance: a beautiful visit to the past with the eyes set on the future.

'You' comes up as a clubbier track while giving a remarkable soundtrack feeling, perfectly binding danceability with an old-school happy mood.

Although the name of the last original track could lead to thoughts of a closed sound, 'Locker Room' is the opposite, an ode to Mister Sweatband's retro aesthetics delivered through an outstanding opening of synths and pads, which are more than enough to confirm his capacity as a storyteller.

'Northern Life Records are proud, and a little dizzy with excitement, to present Freak Seven’s debut long player ‘Ya Bosmang’.

The LP release date is October 1st 2021 and will be available through Bandcamp on digital and limited edition compact cassette with hand printed inserts.

After taking a hiatus for ten years, Freak Seven recorded and mixed this album in Manchester during 2019-2020. The album is a ten tracker running at a little over fifty minutes with its musical roots treading dark dubby waters, Manchester warehouses and Detroit Electronica

The album starts with ‘This Ain’t Hip Hop’ a mid tempo electro groove with a choppy sequenced dissonant synth bassline, TR808 drums and a string line at the end which is a head nod to New Religion and Al Nafyysh.

Ya Bosmang is the title track that starts off with a chin stroking chord progression and then steers into more visceral Beltalowda territory.

This Hurting In Me features the vocals of the wonderfully talented Victoria Unthank (no not those Unthanks but maybe a distant cousin?). A dark dragging bassline with minimal drums and a haunting vocal.

The album closes with ‘Drop It’ a tune that would fit quite easily in West London or a UR party somewhere in Detroit'

Premiere: Freak Seven - Local Control [Northern Life Records]

It's time for the first pack of fresh and exciting remixes for Christian Bachmann's Goodbye, Gravity album and we can tell you now: it was worth the wait!

Rotterdam based duo Andi Biron consists of Aiden and Robin from Cinematique. They bring back the timeless vibes of 10-15 years ago a la Sven Vath and James Holden with their intense, trippy and euphoric remix. Weird? Yeah! But in a good way.

On the flipside it's another openminded producer who's a guarantee for always delivering something special. GRDN. goes for experimental broken beats which work very well with the elements of the original song, whilst Christian Bachmann joins in on the second version, adding his own vocals and with the bass guitar parts played by the man himself!

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Soulkeys, Larrosa & Gardoqui to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, this quartet of progressive music producers has achieved measurable success in their respective careers. With a combined discography that includes releases via Beat Boutique, Plattenbank, Proton's Particles and Steyoyoke, the Buenos Aires residents have received play and support from electronic music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren, Guy Mantzur, Nicole Moudaber and more. Having worked together previously for Dear Deer, the quartet unites once again for their Dopamine White debut ‘Resilience'.
Beginning with the title selection you get a feel for just how strong the creative synergy between these four great talents is. Featuring a dark progressive minded narrative, the quartet craft a foundation of warm beats, fluid rhythms and devilish effects. Its robust low end is full of character and shape, positively charged and perfectly playing off a wealth of shapeshifting electronics. Coming to full fruition during the main break, a storyboard of warped, guitar-like hooks provides moments of tension and anticipation, before a wave of percussive flashes sparks a powerful drop and meditative finale.
The companion piece ‘Fog' follows suit with its ominous, subterranean energy. Dark undertones power the undulating groove, while esoteric effects and timely tonal shifts should make for some memorable dance floor moments. Arpeggiated fragments steal the air across the first act, playing off the rolling groove and neatly manicured percussion perfectly. Tense and exciting in equal measure, the main break melts down to a bassy rumble, paving the way for a finale that is both heady and hypnotic. It rounds out two classy productions from Soulkeys, Larrosa & Gardoqui, a quartet of talented artists who make their Dopamine White debut in fine style.

HIDDEN GEMS: Ocean Of Emotion - In Heaven (Chaum Remix) [MASSIVE HARMONY RECORDS]

'MÉTIER is the new label from Jack! Who? and his UK based deathtechno.com project that is set to journey into deep, dreamy, dub, techno, acid, electro and ambient that will surprise and delight from release to release.

Shifted Minds is the new moniker from Sweden's Mikael Persson aka UBX127 who almost exclusively releases on Len Faki's Figure and Figure SPC, but has also recently appeared on TWR72's new label OOM Records.

This additional alias experiments with a new array of sound design ideas that encompass classic electronica influences.

'Isotopes' introduces the EP with harmonic synth sweeps and an intergalactic aesthetic.

The second track 'Starcharts' focuses on an edgy electro style with squelching, modular tones later complemented by poignant pads and melancholic melodies.

'Soliton' successfully captivates a magical feeling in a mesmerising tapestry of sparse sounds. Using warm, delayed notes and a subtle broken beat to create an epic and inspiring vibe.

Track four 'Foreign Influence' opts for a bouncy rhythm made of intriguing percussion hits and wildlife whistles as its sonic foundation that produces vivid imagery.

Fifth and final on the release is 'Wormhole' which is an uptempo, rolling techno exploration with huge, euphoric, pulsing waves of analogue pleasure.'
