For episode 125 we have the honor to host one of Vienna's most iconic techno artists, Gerald VDH. This mix was his closing set at the latest edition of meat market, his long running label night event series.

Born in Southern Spain, this DJ and producer has immersed himself in the electronic music scene for over 15 years, beginning his journey at just 14 with his first pair of vinyl decks.
By the age of 17, he was already crafting his own tracks. After a decade of self-taught sound design and further studies in harmony, his current work showcases the immense potential
of this versatile and innovative electronic artist. For the past decade, he has focused primarily on Drum & Bass under the alias Impak. Establishing himself as one of the genre’s most influential figures in Spain. His finely honed productions frequently graced the Beatport charts, and his name became synonymous with top-tier Drum & Bass events. As a resident DJ at the iconic
Industrial Copera in Granada, he cemented his reputation while regularly headlining parties across the country. On the international stage, Impak became a recognized name, releasing music with esteemed labels such as Cause4Concern and earning support from key figures like Optiv, BTK, and Prolix. His sound echoed through venues across Europe on numerous tours, further solidifying his place in the global scene. In recent years, this wealth of experience has fueled his shift into the world of techno under the alias Atonism. With his second vinyl release on Freddy K's Key Vinyl label, as well as more than ten digital releases on respected labels such as Flash, Warok, Autonome, Cantilce and Olympian, Atonism’s sound is a blend of intellectual grooves and captivating rhythms. His music seamlessly combines carefully crafted sound design with powerful, yet refined, textures. Drawing inspiration from techno, groove, neuro, and analog approaches, Atonism’s compositions are crafted with precision and intent, aimed at creating a rich, immersive experience on the dancefloor. Now, with a refined approach to musicality and a deeper sense of elegance in his work, Atonism represents the next chapter of an already remarkable journey, pushing boundaries and evolving his sound with every release.

Unmistakable are the sonic experiments of Spanish alchemist ORBE; with this fresh release on Token. ORBE’s iconically viscous textures and impactful percussion weasel their way into ‘Ascender’ for a deeper release on Kr!z’s label. Thick, brooding atmospheres drive these tracks into stories of pursuit and escape throughout its four tracks.  

A slick, pulsating low end in ‘Flashback’ stands out as a first impression for an imposing EP. Electric leads zip by for maximum psychosis; he’s known for his uncompromising dissonance and drive. A staple of the Spanish scene, ORBE bites down hard on deep and hypnotic techno to resonate through concrete warehouses. This jagged edge to club music continues through ‘W9Y’ - a more drum-forward cut with noisy transitions and breathable synthwork. Sharper stabs occupy this space as opposed to the track’s predecessor and tension is maintained with a lingering pad in the background. A meditative conclusion for the A side, ORBE quickly shifts his attention in the titletrack ‘Ascender’. Emphasizing tone and tune on the kick, the lead comes with confrontation. Rolling through shifting hats, the producer brings boiling tension through minimal arrangement and the weight of his sound design - a skillset only the most seasoned artists can claim. To close things out, ‘Break Nation’ does just that - cutting off the traditional four/four rhythm and instead presenting itself as a bass stepper. With ORBE’s classic unison packed synths, this dweller presents a whole other perspective on ‘Ascender’. A hybrid of influences and yet still destined for the techno dancefloor, this breath of fresh air serves as deep dive into the subconscious for an eyes-closed experience.

My next guest on Yax Invites is Gøta, a 25-year-old DJ and founder of Sweet Groove, a promoter of alternative events in Spain and abroad with deep roots in electronic music. She began her DJ career on the island of Menorca, where she developed a unique identity and versatile style that quickly captured the attention of the local scene.

After conquering the Menorcan booths, Gøta has returned to her birthplace to continue her career stronger than ever, consolidating her position as an emerging figure in the national electronic music scene.

Her ability to navigate genres as diverse as techno, house, groove, hard techno, and drum and bass distinguishes her as a versatile DJ, capable of
adapting to any context without losing her essence. Gøta's versatility is reflected not only in her musical selection but also in her ability to read
the dance floor and connect with the audience, generating a unique energy in each set.

Professional and passionate, she stands out for her technical efficiency, artistic sensitivity, and genuine connection with those who listen and
dance to her.

Gøta knows no genre boundaries, and his musical offerings are a journey where rhythm, power, and groove coexist in perfect harmony. With a constantly evolving career, DJ Gøta is undoubtedly a name to watch in today's electronic music scene.

HAMY is a Vietnamese DJ from Berlin. She is a resident at the Berlin-based @tilt.label and co-founder of the new project @butobayang.

In 2012 she started collecting electronic music, which led her to DJing a decade later in 2023. With her eclectic selection and ability to build dynamic, engaging sets, HAMY has quickly gained a loyal following, playing at venues including Tresor, Watergate, RSO Berlin, and Club Rote Sonne.

This year she hosted her own Tresor New Faces night and played her first Asia tour, with stops in Tokyo, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok and Bali.
