In November Rush Hour is set to release a suitably celebratory and carefully curated compilation from Amsterdam scene stalwarts Kamma & Masalo, named in honour of their day and night party in Amsterdam that’s been going since 2014, and their former Worldwide FM radio show, Brighter Days. Positivity abounds across the compilation which draws not only on the dustiest corners of their record collections, but also the duo’s stash of secret weapons, previously unreleased re-edits, and new productions from friends within Amsterdam’s bourgeoning scene. The three tracks presented here offer a suitably vivid snapshot of the collection’s enticing blend of tactile and colourful house, sunrise-ready workouts, soaring disco, basement-ready throb-jobs, inspired dancefloor dubs and righteous boogie jams.

There’s ‘Kamma & Masalo’s Radio Edit’ of Discotheque’s 1982 Dutch-Belgian disco classic ‘For Your Love’– a highlight of their and Antal’s DJ sets over the last 12 months – and their previously unreleased ‘Dub’ of French-Cameroonian artist Anyzette’s 1984 gem ‘Baladoun’, a low-slung slice of drum machine-rich body music that blurs the boundaries between Italo-disco, Afro-boogie and proto-techno. The inclusion of Peffa’s ‘Routine’ highlights the pair’s ongoing relationship with the little-known producer. He’s been supplying them with unreleased secret weapons for some time and ‘Routine’ – an immersive and emotive treat that blends elements of deep house and Detroit techno – is one of his very best.

In the year 2598 a.D., the largest interplanetary collision between two planets probably took place. The impact shook the entire solar system. Strong energy fields caused the meltdown of almost all of our Earth's reactors. In the northern hemisphere, an area was created that survivors called the black zone. Human life seemed impossible here.

Far away from any civilisation, however, a strange new lifeform emerged shortly afterwards. These creatures were able to camouflage themselves in such a way that no human eye, radar or even electronic measuring devices could detect them.
What was registered, however, was an incredible increase in the magnetic field around the area.
It was also difficult to explain why satellites and rocket debris from space kept crashing into the centre of the zone.

One morning, japanese scientists discovered a huge rocket in the centre of the zone that had probably been built from the space debris. At the same time, it was observed that thousands of people from the uncontaminated areas were running into the black zone like stargazers, apparently disappearing into the giant rocket. This modern Noah's Ark was launched on August 6th 2645, and brought at least part of humanity to paradise.

"Before we both started DJing, the only DJs in our circle of friends were men. Through the Conne Island Proberaum, we not only learned how to DJ but also landed our first gig, thanks to their support. Gradually, we met more amazing girls/FLINTAS, and now we feel completely at home in the community. Leipzig/Halle are excellent cities for connecting and exchanging ideas with others, but there's still progress to be made. Unfortunately, many events still feature predominantly male lineups, and most bookers and organizers are also male. Even though more FLINTAS are getting booked now, there's still often a lack of inclusivity and queerness, not only in clubs and parties but also in community radios.

So let's shift our gaze and stay informed."

With Ondersteboven, we feel the need to offer a place where established names are mixed with refreshing local talent; talents who are on their way to reach the bigger crowds, but are not yet being heard enough. We’ve been following M.orres for a while now and we really dig his sounds. He’s one of those talents that just need to be out there.

For our Podcast Series we asked him to record an impression of our chapter TUUR. A Vinyl Only this time, made by the promising newcomer from Nijmegen. Barely a year ago, he found himself experimenting with turntables for the first time and he hasn’t stood still since.

Having an ear for a strong flow, he experiments with proggy and hypnotic sounds. His timing is on point and he likes the occasional weird turn. He played his first gigs at Rollijk and Bloemerbar, where proved he can meet the same standard both in the studio and on the floor.
