Billy Kenny and Abby Jane make their Dirtybird debut with 'I Operate,' a house rumbler coming right out of Hanover, Germany by way of Leeds. The Dirtybird crew has had their eye on Billy Kenny ever since his track 'Work' ripped through the party at last year's Dirtybird BBQ series. 

The leading hypnotic vocal sample states simply, "(at night) I operate" - effortlessly evoking imagery of being beamed up by an alien ship on a dark city street. As the track builds, wobbling basslines, echoes, and scorching white noise cascade into a perfect blend of dance floor bliss.

Just when you think you know what you're in for, the switch up hits hard and fast, catching even the most seasoned dance floor veteran off guard. Unpredictable high-hats and low-end oscillations will send you into a tizzy of irresistible booty shaking before the beat drops out and the reverbed vocals leave you yearning for more. Before you know it, the track is building again into a stomper.

'The Chord March' falls in line next. A slow-building groove draws you in then changes up around the one minute mark, only to build you up again before bringing in a symphony of sounds. A rthymic delight that's perfectly seasoned with a tasteful 'uh' sample results in a tune that's as fun as it is irresistibly catchy. This one is perfect for afterhours dance floors.

One of the most accomplished and revered producers in electronic music today makes his solo debut on Kompakt: French mastermind AGORIA joins our release fold after a foretaste with his stellar 2013 remix of Michael Mayer's "Good Times" (KOMPAKT 272), presenting us with his new mesmerizing floor epic BAPTÊME.
"I'm very happy that BAPTÊME will finally be released", says the producer, hinting at the track's long and winding path to completion: "it's a very special tune for me, representing a lot of changes in my personal life these last two years. It signals my 'second life', if you will". Meaning "baptism" in French, the cut's title is indeed a perfect fit for its particularly festive spirit, exuding both solemnity and sheer pleasure, hallmarks of AGORIA's unique brand of emotional and versatile techno. Bouncy, minimalist percussion is joined by an extensive, dub-styled sub-bass and floating shards of atmospheric synths, quickly escalating into a high definition mover fitted with gorgeous swabs of piano and a keen sense for emotional space.
On the flipside, the original track gets a fascinating rework from DJ Tennis and The Rapture's Luke Jenner, whose LUCKY BLUE EYES VERSION adds more wiggle room to the proceedings, bolstering its loosened grip with enticing new vocals. In yet another step forward, AGORIA himself revisits the remix, sharpening its blurry edges and successfully putting the vocals to work in a prime time environment: "my friend Patrice Bardot - the chief editor of Tsugi Magazine - even said that this one sounds like The Doors for the 21st century", he adds - and indeed, it's next level dreaming for those who need a little bit more from their floor than just another knock on the head.

Archives Intérieures releases The Swedish Congo Record, an adventurous new album by Peder Mannerfelt.
Peder Mannerfelt’s release for Archives Intérieures takes us back to Belgian Congo in the 1930's.
This adventurous album finds its roots in a very obscure 78 rpm record, put together by Belgian filmmaker Armand Denis, who was one of the first Europeans to capture the incredible sounds of Central Congo. These recordings were published in 1950 as The Belgian Congo Records.
Mannerfelt is an avid collector of African tribal music. When he came across this record he was immediately intrigued by the complexity and rendition of these recordings of Congolese music. His initial idea was to use the original album as a sample source, but this concept was quickly abandoned and Peder decided to recreate the album using only synthesizers.
The Swedish Congo Record is first and foremost a thrilling, refreshing album. However, it is also an unintentional critique on a dark passage in Belgian history. The colonial times are marked by a violent, shameless exploration and exploitation of resources and people. On a humanitarian, political and social level a deep scar was left behind by this period of Western European Colonialism. Still now Western economic interests continue to influence the fate of central Africa. Simply sampling the original album could be seen as another way of colonising or disrespectful appropriation. However, by re-sculpting the album, reshaping its original musicality into a wild electronic universe of his own, Mannerfelt pays tribute to the traditional and folkloric meaning of the dances.
The nature of this tribal music pushed Mannerfelt to further explore his unique sense of rhythm he’s known for with Roll The Dice as well as with his solo work. The Swedish Congo Record also bears his signature way of combining skilful productions with a touch of humour, which results in a multi-faceted, daring album.
