Starting out in 2001 to tie up some loose ends from our regulars, SPEICHER has since become a guarantee for vanguard dance sounds from all over the planet, allowing KOMPAKT to invite and support electronic artists that comfortably inhabit both the delicate and the more deliberate ends of the electronic music spectrum. For SPEICHER 77, French producer extraordinaire SEBASTIEN BOUCHET returns to the fold with THESAURUS and BROKEN HEART, two new tracks that readily underscore his reputation as master of Rorschach techno.
Following 2010's exceptional FALLEN ANGEL (KOMPAKT 218), SEBASTIEN BOUCHET's sound cosm shows no signs of compliancy - it's still the same undercurrent of deranged minimalism running alongside a perfectly executed club framework and counterbalancing the occasional epic outburst. A first perfunctory needle drop on opener THESAURUS won't necessarily reveal its emotional intricacy, however, as a decidedly deviant lead synth drills its way into the listener's bowels and levels any dance floor subjected to its hallucinatory methodology. This music knows no mercy: whoever blinks first, loses.
On the flipside, the dizzying intensity of THESAURUS is replaced by the sweet melancholy of BROKEN HEART, a powerful techno ballad that doesn't need vocals to tell its tale of struggle and redemption. A deceptively simple, yet towering melody takes centre stage here, cutting through the smoke and mirrors of your average night out like a knife through butter. Together, these tracks yield a perfect flip-flop image for both veteran and novice crowds, delving deeply into the most leftfield of frequencies while creating emotive momentum for those in need of solace and community spirit.

For SPEICHER 82, brothers in crime VOIGT & VOIGT deliver two mind-altering doses of psychotropic techno, doing what they do best and squeezing utmost impact out of most minimal arrangements.
Tapping into the more hallucogenic properties of techno. Wolfgang and Reinhard Voigt get back to knead the bodies and minds of the dancing crowd – while being quite upfront about their aesthetic goals. The bold and twitchy A-side SUPERPITCH does exactly that: riding the pitch, and riding it hard. Its incessantly morphing bell sounds are screwing with your sensory inputs, making you an easy prey for the cut's simple and effective beat 'n' bass patterns. However, the secret showstopper of this release might actually be the flipside's aptly named cut SUPERTRIP – a dramatic, string-laden techno journey that starts with a spartan, but heartily grinding bassline and soon evolves into a fully-fledged synth stomper. Als Compilation-Reihe im Jahre 2001 gegründet um ein paar lose Fäden unserer Stammkünstler zu verknüpfen, hat sich SPEICHER inzwischen zu einem Garanten für fortgeschrittene Tanzklänge aus aller Welt weiterentwickelt, der es KOMPAKT erlaubt Musiker aus allen Bereichen des elektronischen Spektrums einzuladen und zu fördern. Für SPEICHER 81 liefert das Brüdergespann VOIGT & VOIGT zwei bewusstseinsverändernde Dosen psychotropen Technos ab, der seinen größtmöglichen Effekt aus minimalsten Arrangements zieht.

Ein genaueres Studium von Beipackzettel und Nebenwirkungen entlarvt die halluzinogenen Eigenschaften des Voigt'schen Klangs, eine regelrechte Knetmaschine für Körper und Geist der tanzenden Meute. Ziemlich eindeutig auch das ästhetische Ziel – die schön patzige A-Seite SUPERPITCH etwa tut genau das, was sie sagt: den Pitch reiten, und zwar hart. Die unermüdlich morphenden Glocken bringen sämtliche Sinneseindrücke durcheinander und machen den Hörer zur einfachen Beute für die simplen und höchst effektiven Beat- und Bassmuster des Tracks. Der geheime Hit jedoch verbirgt sich auf der Rückseite – das sinnig benannte SUPERTRIP, eine dramatische, streicherlastige Technoreise, die mit einer spartanischen, aber herzhaft reibenden Bassline beginnt und sich schnell zum vollausgestatteten Synthie-Stampfer entwickelt.
