In what one could probably call "the lost remixes", we unearthed two unpublished cuts which fell to the roadside for any number of inane reasons that we have forgotten since. What we didn't forget, however, is how damn fine these reworks are. Take for example MICHAEL MAYER's take on KAITO's "Behind My Life", an obvious highlight on both Kaito's EP and full-length offerings last year, but as the rest of his work not really lending itself to radical remix treatments - the typical ambience of a Kaito track is too delicate, it seems, for the good ole "let's stick a fatter bass drum underneath it and be gone" routine. That's when you realize how masterful a remixer Michael Mayer actually is, turning the epic soundscapes of the original inside out and into a relentlessly grooving house stomper. The melodic break is where it's at on this one, giving them punters ample space to get truly lost in sound. The flipside holds its own set of surprises with SASCHIENNE's ingenious boogie reboot of MOHN's "Saturn" off their 2012 debut album. Originally a kind of kraut-infused synth jam with all the time in the world for the contemplation of infinite truths and the possibility of space travel, it has now become a tightly knit space cowboy opera full of special effects and exciting laser shootouts. Because you know what they say: a vocoder a day keeps the doctor away.

It's a kind of unruly romanticism that perfuses the budding techno scenarios from SASCHIENNE, often starting with a deceptively simple hook - which slowly evolves into a tense drama as abrasive as it is therapeutic. GOLDEN PRINTS is no different, smudging the volatile faultlines between anthemic electronics, cyber folk and industrial drones from the get-go. 

The A-side's double bill kicks off with the crawling synths from CHAMBRE BLEUE, a dusty, introspective vignette whose increasingly queasy mood is balanced by Julienne's self-assured narration and an unswerving bass line. THE ERA OF THE LEOPARD continues the trek through barren lands with a strong instinct for survival, embodied by its sunburnt guitar licks, throbbing bass and resonant leads. 

The flipside belongs to the somewhat ominously titled DON'T PUT YOUR FINGERS IN THE SOCKET, an exquisite arrangement of contorted feedback loops, foreboding synth sequences and a relentlessly mechanical beat. Short vocal interjections seem to only further the mystique, merely containing the seemingly erratic outbursts of a cut deliberately spiralling out of control. This is music for adventures and other transgressions, undiluted and unfaltering - an exciting new release from two people who know which way to twist the knife.

Kurze Vocal-Einwürfe scheinen den geheimnisvollen Nimbus nur zu verstärken, kaum daß sie die vordergründig erratisch anmutenden Ausbrüche eindämmen könnten, welche den bewusst aus der Spur gelenkten Track heimsuchen. Two years have passed since Buraka Som Sistema formally introduced the world to the pulsating rhythm of zouk bass, live on Boiler Room. The intense and tropical-flavoured 90BPM beats that the Global Club Music ambassadors played caused quite a stir, and almost immediately we started receiving tracks from all around the world with all sorts of interpretations of the first genre that was ever baptized on a live Internet stream. 

One year after that memorable night we released the first volume of the ‘We Call It Zouk Bass’ compilation series, a colorful snapshot of the state of a new international scene that was taking the Angolan rhythms of kizomba and tarraxo and filtering them through all sorts of electronic influences with stunning results. Glasgow based Secluded drops another two Techno monsters on Soma backed by a hypnotic remix from up and coming Portuguese producer Lewis Fautzi.

Delusional starts things of with a bang as Secluded’s big and bashy drums roll out to subtly filtered stabs that ring through into a direct outburst of percussion. Things get a little deeper as we progress, big builds and drops are broken up with a fine tuned pad that swarms through the backbone. A typical monster opener from Secluded.

Sympathy is no less of a monster. Secluded tactfully brings the elements out in this track as a punchy drum sequence roars underneath a percussive synth hook, slowly peaking and thundering back in with intent with each drop. 

Lewis Fautzi turns in a suitably hypnotic version of Delusional as he loops out the original’s mains hook and drives a more ethereal, haunting pad line underneath. Fautzi creates real tension with small drum fills and tough percussive work.

Secluded drops yet another tough EP in only the way he can.

Stephan Hinz has created three collaborative tracks that cover all areas of the techno spectrum and one track is of course with the label bosses, Pan-Pot. We've got the premiere of 'Tension' and take note of the title because the track is brimming with it.

The cut kicks off with thumping kicks and groove-inducing claps before it begins its incline to full-throttle wall-shaker. The drops are punishing and the builds are tantalising. Trust us, this one goes hard. Check it.

Debütalbum von Sascha Funkes neuem Projekt Saschienne, das der Berliner Produzent gemeinsam mit seiner Frau, der Sängerin und Multiinstrumentalistin Julienne Dessagne, ins Leben gerufen hat. Saschienne ist kein kurzweiliges Band-Experiment, sondern eine feste Partnerschaft mit Horizont.
