KENNETH JAMES GIBSON, one of the most multifaceted artists in electronic music today, enlists for the fourth instalment in our POP AMBIENT artist album series - he's the mastermind behind the Adjunct Audio label and projects as diverse as [a]pendics.shuffle, Eight Frozen Modules, Reverse Commuter, neo-americana duo Bell Gardens (with Stars Of The Lid's Brian McBride) or noise pop band Furry Things. On THE EVENING FALLS, he deviates from his other, more beat-infused work and explores vast aural landscapes with an intricately woven tapestry of swelling string drones, shimmering pedal steel  and minimalist piano motives.

The first strictly ambient solo offering from this incredibly versatile composer and musician reveals a delicate sense for rich, ruminant textures and fine-grained synth buzz dispensing organic highs on tracks like opening movement TO SEE YOU DRIFT, the Polaroid-colored LONG GONE CANADIAN SUMMER, the meditative A CONVERSATION BETWEEN FRIENDS or terraforming blues LATERAL DECOMPOSITION. The iridescent quality of these recordings almost appears to be born out of an auditory illusion - with the arrangements seemingly evolving in time lapse and slow motion at the same time.

The natural, wholesome flow of the album certainly finds itself influenced by Gibson's recent move to a 6000 ft. mountain community called Idyllwild. While two of the tracks on THE EVENING FALLS were started in LA about two years ago, for them and others to get fully realized, he needed to transition away from inner city roaming: "my wife and I heard the calling of the mountains for a while - getting deeper into meditation and nature and a slower way of life. There've been beatless tracks on many of my albums, but this is the first full-scale ambient album I've done... I simply needed to find the right focus." The result is a masterful new addition to our growing series of Pop Ambient full-lengths, presenting the fully-formed vision of a veteran producer who never lost his taste for sonic adventure.

The 'Turn Around' EP is one that's been in the works for some time and its accompanying remix is one of the most anticipated tracks of 2014. If you've been to see the likes of Dixon, Mano Le Tough, Solomun, Maceo Plex or Tale Of Us recently then you will have heard it, loved it, and wanted it.

The mesmerising Âme remix has been gliding its way round sound systems across the globe since the start of the year and it's no surprise as to why. The perfect end of set track, it enchants its way through eight minutes of euphoric vocals, grand synths, astounding builds and simply gorgeous drops.

„Reworks Vol. 4“ is the last issue of a whole series of stunning edits for the forgotten, Venezuelan producer and studio engineer Daniel Grau. DJs and producers like  Daniel Wang, Max Graef, Ray Mang and Debonair have all completed their very own and personal interpretations of Grau's Tropical Cosmic Disco world for Sonar Kollektiv. Now works by Mark E, Fajra Fantasmo, Marcel Vogel and Jacques Renault succeed for this 4th issue.

It's not the first remix Mark E has done for Sonar Kollektiv. But with all due respect to his previous achievements this edit of Grau's “Combination” (off the 1981 album „Por Que No Podemos Hacerlo?“) is probably one of the most astounding things Mark Evett has perpetrated so far (by a hair's breadth behind his inofficial edit of Birth Control's “Plastic People). Hynotic funk right on the bass drum with filter effects applied so perfectly that the party will get going at the latest when this track drops in. The whistle-along tune „Con El Cielo En Tus Ojos“ (off Grau's LP „El Leon Bailarin„) is morphed by Fajra Fantasmo into most peculiar techhouse. We're all wound up to a high pitch to see how in the midst of a grimy DJ set this remix will set a grin of all the dancers faces by its jauntiness. By contrast New York based Jacques Renault opens up a jar of jam with his edit for “Atlantis” and sets the mood right for a sugary sunset. And when it comes to unbridled funkyness who else the Amsterdam based Marcel Vogel would do a better job by editing “Corre Caminos” (also off Grau's “El Leon Bailarin” album)? His restoration work shines with authenticity and accuracy for modern dance floors.

With the digital download you get again an incentive: “Funky Bit-Bop” (off the 1983 released “440 Toker” LP) is getting stripped by Mark E to the bone only to pumped up again to become a brute little tigress painting clubland red.

Daniel Grau can be quite proud of by who, and how his legacy has been worked with. Let's hope this is inspiration for him to produce even more, fresh, fantastic music.

We enlisted some of The Field's favorite producers of today to do the remix treatment to the highlight album closing track "Reflecting Lights". KAITLYN AURELIA SMITH infuses the ambient drift of the original with a brightly colored, heartwarming palette of sounds and voices, former Walls member  / Kompakt alumni, NOT WAVING switches to a more rugged methodology, recalling the distorted lo-fi techno and obscure tape industrial references on his current album "Animals" on Powell's Diagonal imprint.

Però tot i que al camp s’està molt bé, la gresca s’acaba trobant a faltar i, apart de produir a l’Empordà i dirigir el segell Factor City a distància, Undo punxa, a Barcelona i a on calgui, per mostrar d’on li ve la inspiració per crear discos com el seu. Als seus sets pots esperar electrònica deutora del so clàssic de labels com Kompakt i Border Community, o de gent com Caribou o John Talabot, mestres en compaginar l’energia que mou la pista de ball, amb l’amor incondicional per la melodia que et sacseja els sentits. D’allò que se’n diu electrònica amb cor pop.

En sus sets puedes esperar electrónica deudora del sonido clásico de labels como Kompakt y Border Community, o de gente como Caribou o John Talabot, maestros en compaginar la energía que mueve la pista de baile, con el amor incondicional por la melodía que te sacude los sentidos. De lo que se dice electrónica con corazón pop.

Gabriel Berlanga currently lives somewhere between Blanes and Cadaqués on the Catalan coast where he’s hit hard by the north tramuntana wind, but it doesn’t seem to have had any adverse effects. His second LP, Motas De Polvo, picks up from where he left off with the first, as if time had passed simply to improve something that was already going on. But while the countryside is nice, Berlanga has been missing the bright lights, and besides producing in Empordà and directing the Factor City label from a distance, Undo DJ’s, in Barcelona and wherever necessary, to show us something of where the inspiration comes to create discs like his. In these sets you can expect electronica recalling the classic sounds of labels like Kompakt and Border Community and artists like Caribou and John Talabot, and a masterclass in how to combine the energy that gets a dance floor moving with an unconditional love for melodies that shakes up the senses; what you might call electronica with a pop heart.

From his earliest output in the fertile techno scene of his native North Wales to his most recent world-beating 12"s, he has never shied away from trying something new. His music first reached the world matching the experimental spirit of minimal to a tougher techno sensibility. This gave rise to tracks brimming with creativity and packing a punch, thanks to the gutsy analogue set up that has been Tom's calling card since day one.

His performances are an explosive extension of the hands-on approach he has in the studio. From DC10 to Freerotation, Tom¹s sets have always kept the energy high and dynamic, a constant tribute to the techno roots that set him on his way.
