"4 NUTS": THE LEGACY REVISITED

Twenty-five years after its release, High Frequency's cult EP "4 Nuts" (EPS 001) is celebrated with this exceptional remix album.

To mark the return of Ellipsis Records, we entrusted the three original tracks ("Rumble", "Rumpus", and "Hard At Work") to a selection of legends and emerging talents from the techno scene.

From the raw power of D.A.V.E. The Drummer to the hypnosis of Maxx Rossi, through the modern vision of Electric Rescue or the acid touch of Ganez The Terrible, each artist has appropriated High Frequency's DNA to deliver 12 new explosive interpretations. It is the perfect bridge between the Reims sound of the 2000s and today's techno.

A new high-octane transmission featuring quality sounds and meticulous blending by one of our hometown tastemakers; Lucky Done Gone! Taking cues from ambient, house, techno and Italo, his always on point DJ sets strike a great balance between complexity and all-out party vibes. Next to playing festivals like DGTL, Wildeburg, Into the Woods and Drift, he manages to transmits his multidimensional sound palette through his “Emotional Emancipation“ radio show on the now defunct Red Light Radio and regular appearances on Operator. 

While Gijs is working on his first album and is helping Nuno Dos Santos with keeping Something Happening Somewhere running, we warmly welcome him into the mix series.

Live Techno whiz, Saytek, reveals the 2nd instalment of his brilliant ‘Live On Tour’ EP series with an exceptional set of live jams recorded at Minimal Force at Werkhaus, London, Insel Der Jugend, Madgeburg and Mauerpfeiffer, Saarland. A scintillating snapshot of his live improvisation mastery recorded before the onset of Covid-19, 'Volume 2’ features 4 powerful jams packed with slamming beats, haunting synthology, acid rubs and that signature Saytek magic that happens when he’s let loose on his kit in front of a vibed up crowd.
Over the past few years, UK artist, Saytek (aka Joseph Keevill) has carved himself a reputation as one of the electronic music scene's most innovative live acts with his impressive improvised shows. His mastery of machines (including analog synths, sequencers and drum machines, alongside advanced technology), combined with a unique energy and ear for melody, has won him acclaim and fans worldwide, ever present, offering improvised sets of deep and hypnotic techno, Acid and House jams. Those fans also include House and techno pioneers such as Carl Cox, Kevin Saunderson, Darren Emerson, Steve Lawler, Danny Rampling, DR Motte and MR.C, who signed Saytek's music to their own respective labels and featured his live shows at their events.
To date, Saytek has released eight esteemed live albums, Live Jam tracks, EPs and 12” singles, on his own Cubism imprint as well labels such as Awesome Soundwave (Carl Cox’s new home for live artists) KMS, Superfreq, Liebe*Detail, Soma, Bedrock, fabric, My Favorite Robot Records, Wiggle, My Favourite Freaks and many more. His busy tour schedule has seen him deliver peak time live performances at some of the best parties and festivals around the world. Highlights include Carl Cox's Intec Arena at Creamfields and Carl Cox’s forthcoming Megatructure at Resistance, Miami (sadly just postponed due to Coronavirus); Danny Rampling’s 30 year anniversary of his Shoom party; Awakenings ADE; the legendary Terrace of Space Ibiza (RIP); Printworks; Mysteryland; and fabric London. Saytek also performs regularly at the heart of Berlin’s underground scene with shows at Tresor, Watergate, Sisyphos’s Hammerhalle and last year he was invited to perform at the legendary Love Parade founder, Dr Motte’s Birthday at Suicide Circus. Whilst his Facebook live streams continue to rack up millions of plays, along with winning much regular support in the media from the likes Mixmag, DJ Mag and more, in 2019 Saytek was voted as one of the top 20 live acts in Faze Magazine by the German public and also held his place in the top 50 Techno Artists again on Traxsource (2016-2019).

The resident DJ for Tropical Animals, Gaiden’s preferences for immersive, deep sounds ranging from ambient/drone and slo-mo grooves to explosive techno are distilled into his first release. On ‘Escape from XEN’ the Italian producer opens with the title track, a powerful dubby techno track that blurry the transitions between organic and synthetic throughout it’s heady duration. ‘Acqua’, a densely atmospheric house-tempo cut, comes next before the bpms drop significantly for ‘Mel’, an infectious ALFOS chugger of the highest order. The stuttering drum machine workouts of ’Sputnik’ closes the EP with acidic, retro-futurist flair, rounding out a warm, spacey EP for the heads.

To celebrate the first anniversary, a limited double vinyl series is now starting. With each release one EARQUAKE year is honoured with a kind of "Best Of". The first strike, the double 12inch “EARQUAKE 1991“ with a total of 7 tracks, includes "Love Inc.: Trance Atlantic XS" and "Mike Ink: Dialogue E.P." - two absolute cult classics of the early nine-zero-nine and three-zero-three acid-hysteria era. As a kind of "original sound commentary" on the music of that time, there is also a new interpretation of the interview-based art piece "Wolfgang Voigt - Du musst nichts Sagen", which is combined with a Wolfgang Voigt hit that has been out of print for a long time and which the connoisseur will immediately recognize.

Powerful and ambient, this first HRN LP, The Future of Serbia, is a hybrid electron of mind-blowing and nostalgic techno, strongly 90s influenced. The Future of Serbia marks HRN’s return after three years of studio experimentation. This LP is released by Parallel Discs. It will be available everywhere from January 15th 2021.

HRN is a 30-year-old man coming from Bordeaux, France. He produces a contrasting techno, with hard beats and light melodies, with strong bass and mind-blowing details. He has released several EPs between 2012 and 2020, including Minea on Grrreat Recordings (Van Did own label), Alternatives on Bug Coder Records, Acid Testerday and You Prefer Not To on Parallel Discs. He also produced several remixes, from Aphex Twin to Max Cooper, through Van Did and Ryan Davis.
