In the wake of renewed activity on the
WASSERMANN front, Wolfgang Voigt’s legendary
fringe rave alter ego, we’re thrilled to introduce a
new generation of listeners to his game-changing
cut W.I.R. – the vocoder-fuelled banger was a
massive crossover hit in 2000, bringing the
idiosyncratic underground sounds emanating
from a young scene of Cologne producers and
DJs who rallied under the Kompakt banner to a
wider audience. It sounded like nothing else on
the dance floors at the time and paved Kompakt’s
way into the spotlight. First released on Voigt’s
experimental techno label Profan, the track hasn’t
lost a quota of its futuristic and fresh appeal to
this day – it’s every bit as timeless as the remixes
from German DJ icon SVEN VÄTH and Kompakt
power duo TOBIAS THOMAS & MICHAEL MAYER
which dropped shortly after the release of the
original. Find all of these plus a new FARBEN
REMIX of FACKELN IM STURM by Wolfgang Voigt
in one barnstorming package, remastered to
perfection and available as digital download for
the first time ever. Furthermore, an updated 2016
rework of W.I.R. will be released together with the
DJ KOZE remix of Wassermann's DIE
SCHALLPLATTE on a bonus 10" accompanying
the upcoming limited edition of TOTAL 16 - not to

Im Zuge erneuter Aktivität an der WASSERMANNFront,
Wolfgang Voigts legendäres Alternativ-
Rave-Projekt, ist es an der Zeit, eine neue
Generation an Hörern mit seinem
bahnbrechenden Track W.I.R. vertraut zu machen
- der Vocoder-geschwängerte Schieber geriet
2000 zu einem massiven Crossover-Hit und
gewann neues Publikum für die
idiosynkratischen Underground-Klänge einer
jungen Kölner Szene an Produzenten und DJs,
die sich unter dem Kompakt-Banner
versammelten. Es klang wie nichts anderes auf

kein bisschen an Frische und futuristischer
Anziehungskraft verloren - er ist genauso zeitlos
wie die Remixe der deutschen DJ-Ikone SVEN
VÄTH und des Kompakt'schen Power-Duos
TOBIAS THOMAS & MICHAEL MEYER, welche
seinerzeit kurz nach dem Original veröffentlicht
wurden. Diese drei Zeitzeugen plus Wolfgang
Voigts brandneuem FARBEN REMIX des
Klassikers FACKELN IM STURM finden sich im
W.I.R. REMIXE Paket, neu gemastert und zum
allerersten Mal als digitaler Download verfügbar.
