The composition “Atmosphères” was also the inspiration for my second sound colour game. My composition follows a diagram of dynamics and density that I made from Ligeti's orchestral piece. For the recording of the previous composition "Game de Timbre" I had built clusters from a wide variety of sound events: acoustic and electronic musical instruments as well as concrete noises in the sense of "musique concrète" formed the sound carpet. In contrast, all the sounds in "Game de Timbre zwei" come exclusively from a semi-modular analogue synthesizer: the Arturia MiniBrute 2 noir. The focus is again on the slow change of the timbres. The tonal material includes whole-tone clusters, 12-tone clusters, and free-tonal "floating" chords that intentionally contradict the principles of tension and resolution. In addition, short chromatic melodic lines are repeated, which overlap in many layers and merge as individual events in the sound fabric.

The Arturia MiniBrute is monophonic - this means that for all the extensive manipulation you have on oscillators and envelopes, you can only play one note at a time. If you want to record a chord, you have to do it in several individual tracks. 38 tracks were necessary to realize "Game de Timbre zwei".
