We've recently picked up a transmission from the good folks over at camp All Caps. It reads: "Just as the Scotch fear the Loch Ness monster, the coastal folk of the Caspian have long lived in the shadow of this great colossus. A mythical aircraft of gargantuan proportions, the Ekranoplan now lies at rest amid the discarded rubble of the Soviet dream. This EP paints a more gentle, playful picture of the monster and it's mysterious aeronauts.”

Now we've little idea what all that means, but the message also included this link - http://groundeffect.info/ - and a track called 'Coil'. Make of it what you will.

Kim Ann Foxman - Hypnotic Dance (Nicholas Remix) - OUT NOW

International Feel founder Mark Barrott and Running Back co-owner/Panorama Bar resident/all-around boss—Gerd Janson—are for lack of a better word, veterans. As DJs, tastemakers, hosts, and producers, the pair have both had their own intriguing paths through the scene. Now they are carving a new detour into their windy travels, joining forces for a collaborative 12" under the name Talamanca System.

Bwana is a name you may not have heard from in a while. Well, the reasons for that are apparent now: in spite of a strong start, he didn’t want to get swept away as the digital tide went out. Having secured a coveted release on Will Saul’s Aus - not to mention mastering by Gingy, and backed with a Simian Mobile Disco remix on the flip - the man is evidently making good on lost time with “Flute Dreams”.

If that title raises an immediate red flag, fear not. The track does well to repair the (justifiably) wretched reputation that flautists have accrued from their “contributions” to prog rock and Goa trance. Gliding across a galloping beat and a deep bassline stretched repeatedly to disintegration, the flute in question sits cosily, tag-teaming any synth line for a melody that’s tonally richer and a little more distinctive. Odds on you’ll find yourself whistling this in no time.

Bwana, the Toronto-born, Leeds-based producer is checking in his debut release on Aus with the 'Flute Dreams' EP and there are three stellar original cuts for you to sink your teeth into.

The lead track also has a remix courtesy of our latest In Sessionists Simian Mobile Disco and once again the prolific duo demonstrate why they're as relevant as ever. Their robotic techno edit of the track shuffles and glitches its way through the six minute runtime and some clever hi-hats only add to the groove.

Premiere: Bwana 'Flute Dreams' (Siman Mobile Disco Remix)

"Aus follow up Huxley’s debut career album and Gerry Read’s ‘3 2 1’ EP with their 72nd release and the first contribution to the label from Toronto born Bwana.  

With previous releases on Somethinksounds, Mad Decent and Infinite Machine the Leeds based producer expands on the amorous brand of Bass he’s built his reputation with and turns in his ‘Flute Dreams’ EP; an iridescent packet that sits comfortably in big room spaces and comes bolstered by a remix from Simian Mobile Disco.

The title track crescendos behind a thrumming kick and chirping melodies as it gathers luminous tones and textures throughout. Simian Mobile Disco then weigh in and drive clipped acid patterns under hustling drums in a tense and capacious rework.

‘Fizzle’ unfolds behind shimmering synth patterns and stout toms before ‘Aomame’ lays a saturated thud under more flaring synths that bloom alongside steadily strengthening drum patterns that bring another Aus coup to a close". 

Regarding premieres - more than happy to reach out to Pitchfork first, seem to have found more success of late in reaching out to Philip Sherburne and trying to tie premieres in with editorials so I'll go down that route and await his response before looking to FACT / BR if needs be. 

We'll definitely also look for some opportunities for interviews / features, it being his first release is a good talking point..

There’s something uniquely analogous between Melbourne and Glasgow. An earnest grittiness, found in everything from the grey weather to the working class roots, renders the cities natural breeding grounds for underground music. This shared connection is perhaps what makes us so excited about the latest release on the Glasweigian imprint and renowned Sub-Club residency, Sensu. The label’s third 12” – EndoPlazm EP – welcomes Melbourne producer, DJ and Salt Mines co-founder, Rudolf C to bring what he so perfectly describes as “house music from my mind”.

The four-track EP is the perfect showcase of Rudolf’s talent; a superbly produced marriage of weird electro and analogue house. Like the producer’s other hardware-based releases on Salt Mines, Lost Palms, and X-Kalay, the EndoPlazm EP is raw and atmospheric, drawing from a range of styles, genres and soundscapes. The outcome is an escapist’s delight: four dancefloor-ready jams that strike the ideal balance between exhilarating and melancholic.

Today we have the honour of premiering the A2: Endoplazm (Innabud Dub). The track opens with an almost ambient feel: sounds of nature layered over a euphoric drone, disguising a subdued kick that foreshadows what’s to come. A teasing vocal sample ‘watch yourself’ transports us to the underground party, where hi-hats begin to shuffle like excited ravers in anticipation. At what feels like the perfect moment, a moody bassline takes centre stage and locks the track into a 4/4 groove. Enter some infectious drum kicks, more mind-altering drones before the track descends into spiralling acid and breaks. The combination of indistinguishable vocals and cosmic samples makes it near impossible not to lose ourselves in the obscure, psychedelic landscape. For the final act, the track restores a sense of direction, transporting us back to where it all began, squeezing out the last remaining groove.

In all, it’s an immersive survey of the diverse sounds of the Melbourne underground. The type of track that makes you forget what time it is, what day of the week it is, or what sweat-soaked basement you’re raving in. This is the musical equivalent of the twilight zone.

With the rest of the EP possessing the same addictive, mind-bending quality, this is a release to look out for. Dropping on May 21, pre-order it from Juno now.
