La estructura de Ommadawn es fantástica. La primera parte se desarrolla sobre la base de una pequeña melodía tradicional, que quizás fuera una canción infantil. Sobre esta melodía se va creando una estructura que sirve para introducir diversos pasajes en los que a menudo se intercambian melodía y acompañamiento. Aqui Mike demuestra su ya consolidado manejo del estudio de grabación como instrumento y consigue crear una música contemplativa de una belleza impresionante. En la sección final la melodía inicial sirve de nuevo para crear otro ambiente aún más hipnótico entre tambores africanos y voces femeninas que enlazan sílabas en unos versos ininteligibles. Una de las palabras que pronuncian suena como Ommadawn, y es la que da título al disco, que no tiene ningún otro significado según el propio Oldfield. El final de esta primera parte constituye un auténtico clímax, dirigido finalmente por una guitarra eléctrica hacia la paz de los tambores africanos en solitario.

In 2010 Anathema released We’re Here Because We’re Here, the band’s first new album for almost seven years. The album was awarded Classic Rock’s Prog Album of the Year as well as a host of other accolades and the producer, Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), has described it as “definitely among the best albums I’ve ever had the pleasure to work on.”
The band now return with Weather Systems, their brand new studio album. The album will be available as a limited edition 2 disc set which will come packaged in a deluxe digibook and feature a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album.

Anathema have been at the forefront of the UK rock/metal movement for many years. They began their journey as pioneers of melodic heavy music, influencing a myriad of bands to follow them, before outgrowing all genres and limitations as they fearlessly explored new territory and new ways to express feeling through sound.

Formed in Liverpool in 1990, the band’s sound, and musical vision has continually evolved over the ensuing years while always remaining true to their original goal of creating forward thinking, meaningful, passionate and honest music. The line-up is really a collective of two families who were quite simply born to do it. Anathema consists of brothers Vincent, Daniel and Jamie Cavanagh, alongside childhood friends John Douglas and his sister Lee, who is an incredible singer in her own right.

There is a deeper bond in the group that transcends usual band politics, ego, and self-interest. They have a shared vision: to make the most incredible music they possibly can, and it seems, despite the lavish praise heaped on the band for their past work, that they are now taking their work to a whole new level.
