I have my final university exams in just over a month; this track is about how I'm feeling. I'm optimistic and excited about the future, but all endings have an air of sadness to them. My last few strands of childhood are about to be taken away and that's a scary thing to think about.

This is just music though; it's all subjective. Take what you want from the piece. Above all I hope you enjoy it, and thank you endlessly for all your continuing support.

I haven't posted new music since a while now, although I never stopped composing. I guess this track is the most personal thing I could share with you.
It's about a woman who means a lot to me. She always encouraged me in my darkest hours. Even if I was close to deleting all of my recordings and burning all of the albums I made. She took me to Bonn to study filmmusic-composition this year and was proud of me doing what I do. She plays the violin in this song and was sitting next to me most of the time I was composing it for her and with her.

On December the 8th 2014 she passed away. I am trying to accept it and that's why I am sharing her beauty with you. May her playing move you the way it moves me and may she never be forgotten.

I love you.
I miss you.
And I will never forget what you have done for me.
Thank you for everything.

ABOUT LIVING ROOM SONGS:

Icelandic contemporary composer Ólafur Arnalds created and released a new song, one per day for one for one whole week during the month of October 2011. The songs were recorded and filmed live in the living room of his Reykjavik apartment and released instantly for free as streamed videos and mp3 downloads.

Following in the spirit of Ólafur Arnalds’ critically acclaimed Found Songs (2009) now comes Living Room Songs. This time Ólafur takes the idea further and invites the audience into the comfort of his living room, where the songs were recorded live and the whole process filmed. The songs were instantly released in form of a free mp3 download and video stream- straight from Ólafur's Reykjavik apartment.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: ‘One night I was just playing my piano here in this apartment and I was writing a new song and I didn't have my phone on me which I usually use to record ideas. So I actually took out my MacBook and I didn't want to open like a proper recording program, so I just opened Photo Booth and recorded a video of myself playing the song so that I would remember the song. And I really liked the atmosphere of that video and that's when I thought I should do a series of songs in my living room...’             – Ólafur Arnalds


Born in the suburban Icelandic town of Mosfellsbær, a few kilometers outside of Reykjavík, the 24-year old composer has always enjoyed pushing boundaries with both his studio work and his live-shows. Through relentless touring and determination this young artist has steadily gained recognition worldwide since his 2007 debut Eulogy for Evolution. Ólafur Arnalds’ second full-length album ...and they have escaped the weight of darkness, continues his mission to lure an indie-generation of pop and rock fans into an emotive world of beguiling electronic chamber music and delicate classical arrangements. So, here we go. When I started this account I had no idea what to expect. Was my music going to be received well; were people going to want to listen to it? Of course, like most music artists, I make music for the joy of doing so. If you don't love what you do, you can never hope to excel at it. However to have my music appreciated by so many people already has been incredible, so thank you.

In particular, this piece is a follow up to the track "Then She Spoke," which received an incredible amount of attention. The support and kind words that I have received as a result of that track blew my expectations out of the water. 

To say thank you for such overwhelming support I have put together a MIDI pack, which just needs finalising and then it will be available for free for anyone who would like to use it. Thank you again, and see you on the next track!

Over the past 2 years, I’ve created a lot of works that don’t fit into the concept of https://soundcloud.com/mindex
So, after much thought, I decided to open up a new chapter of my creative journey, under the pseudonym of Neversky. 
This new project will serve as a platform for my experiments with cinematic sound, emotive piano-based melodies, restrained textural electronica, influenced by Classical and Jazz music, over some four on the floor beats.
I am thrilled to open this new bright and exciting horizon with my first track as Neversky, "Falling". I hope it finds a resonance within your hearts!
