After months of trying to figure out how to record stuff to my new computer after the old one broke, I figured it out! So here is volume 2 of Electric Turkey for your digital consumption. Honestly, I think it's even better than the first one! The tape has been on the market for awhile but, like I said, I am hopeless with electronics. (This is part of the reason why I make tapes as opposed to fancy stuff. Go with what you know!)

After a year of exploration and living in Istanbul, digging in music and life stories of Turkish singers from 60s and 70s, I am sharing with you with my 3rd mixtape. Being here I managed to see far beyond my dreams and expectations, that brought me here.
Glorious Ladies is a selection of favourite songs from my collection of 45s, that I gathered through last 6 months. The most traumatic and strange 6 months for all of us.

A tribute to Turkish soul - filled with melancholy and joy.

Mixtape include a selection of Turkish Rap from tapes between 1986 – 1995. Name of the mixtape comes from an album released in 1991.

Rap Macun; son 2 yıldır Cartel öncesi döneme ait Türkiye’de yayınlanan Rap denemelerini barındıran kasetler üzerine yaptığım bir araştırmanın sonucu. Mixtape içindeki bazı kasetler Almanya’da basılmış. Ancak bu kasetlerin içeriği Türkiye’de kaydedilmiş ve farklı isimlerde burada da yayınlanmış. Rastladığım ilk Rap denemeleri DJ Hakan Gündüz’ün 1980’lerdeki kasetlerinde yer alıyor. MFÖ’nün Ali Desidero ve Anında Görüntü gibi parçalarını içeren “Geldiler” albümüyle, 1990’dan itibaren yeni bir dalga başlıyor. Vitamin projesinin de başarısıyla 1993’e kadar yayınlanan onlarca stüdyoyla kısıtlı proje bulunuyor. Bunların haricinde de farklı deneyler 95’e kadar yapılmış. Elimden geldiğince en belli başlılarına bu sette yer vermeye çalıştım.
Setin adı 1991’de yayınlanan bir albümden geliyor.

On the day of Turkish Ladies compilation's official release date (May 11, 2018) I prepeared a special mix for London based NTS Radio. What a celebration of the "Turkish Ladies. Female Singers from Turkey 1974 - 1988"!!!
Selection of various songs from Turkey late 70s and 80s. From pop-rock of 70s to disco of early 80s. The set consist of 3 tracks from "Turkish Ladies" compilation. Most of the tracks are super fresh and were never part of any of my previous mixtapes. It seems like this adventure will never end - beautiful singers and exciting tracks are still waiting to be discovered <3

Turkish Ladies for NTS Radio

Fresh out of the studio of Taylan Alan arrives Anadolu Mixtape 12! Taylan is a Rotterdam-based DJ and producer with a broad taste in music, known for his energetic and rhythmic sets. For this mixtape he made a special Turkish selection of exotic jazz-funk and psychedelic folk, combined with Yeşilçam sound fragments - the Turkish popular cinema of the 1970's.
