This time, Bleur & MB 1, who have long proven themselves in this difficult task, will act as the head of the research group. They took 4 large bathyscaphes equipped with deadly sonic weapons for the descent, ready for any developments, because no one knows what awaits them at the bottom of the ocean trench. And only The Voice reproduced in the distress signal remains a mystery to all of us.

Be Horny for My Groove

Korpus 9 Records kicks off with a brand new EP from dubspeeka, featuring four tracks of high impact and atmospheric techno. 

Korpus 9 Records is a brand new techno label from Russia managed by Kwazalski. The main aim of the label is to release fresh and innovative material, not only digitally, but also on vinyl. All the imagery and influences of the label come from an abandoned research station that is deep underwater, where unusual events are happening around it on a constant basis. Charged with the first release is shadowy Bristolian producer dubspeeka, who has put out his music on Drumcode, Senso Sounds and Get Physical, runs Skeleton Recordings and has a fierce techno sound. 

The opener here is Garrison, a driving number with heavy drums and a warm but edgy mood. Garrison 2 is more spaced out, with celestial pads baring a feeling of suspense above the firmly rooted drums. Garrison 3 then has lumpy drums that bob up and down, as acid lines, water sounds and metallic hits all add atmosphere to the cavernous groove. Last of all, Garrison 4 is an eerie dub techno track with real drive but also plenty of thoughtful emotions. It closes out a brilliant first EP on this exciting new label.

The Korpus 9 label welcomes Scottish techno talent Hans Bouffmyhre for a new EP. It comes after he has established himself on the world scene on labels like Soma and Perc Trax and gigs at the best clubs around the globe. Now with these four latest cuts he once again shows off his unique, powerful style. 

Opener Unconditional is a deep, driving track with firmly rooted drums and burrowing synth lines that get you in a state of hypnosis before the acidic stabs takes things up a notch. Resonator is another perfectly planned bit of tunnel vision techno that is forceful and linear, racing forwards on bulky drums with subtle synths peeling off the groove. 

Growth Chart then follows a similar path but with celestial chords lighting up the background and a curious lead synth line that gets your attention and pulls you deep into the groove. Finally, the heavyweight Crossbow is another bulky techno roller that is designed for big warehouse spaces. It is economical and efficient and makes for perfectly stripped back but striking techno.

Hailing from Serres, Greece, young producers Bleur & MB1 have a fourteen year friendship behind them, and it’s obviously translated to a deep, easy chemistry in the studio. Following the inclusion of their belter single “Humans” on the last Second State SUM compilation, the duo now releases this stormy EP, pulling the listener into darker terrain. 

“Shock” does exactly that: jolts the listener into a hypnotic trance with a roof-raising combination of metallic, springy synths, a thwacking kick, and explosive FX. The mood is more restrained on “Belfast”, adding a layer of foreboding to the relatively spare opening passage, which eventually veers into trippy, spooky territory thanks to eerie pads and droney synth blurts. “NL Industry”, meanwhile, adds interest to grey low end with bleepy keys and engine revs that become gradually louder and sharper as the track progresses, culminating in a disorienting, thumping delirium. 

This EP cements their status as stars in the making. It’s an exciting sign of what’s to come from this dynamic duo.
