Chris Liebing remakes Emmanuel Top’s iconic ‘Turkish Bazar’. A new version of the 1994 acid rave hit lands on Liebing’s CLR on 20th December 2024.

Chris Liebing’s long-awaited remake of Emmanuel Top’s 1994 classic ‘Turkish Bazar’ arrives on CLR this December. Initially released via the Le Petit Prince label, ‘Turkish Bazar’ is an evergreen club hit, now painstakingly rebuilt by Techno powerhouse Chris Liebing, with each musical element reforged to create an essential new version.

Liebing’s version of ‘Turkish Bazar’ features the instantly recognisable spoken word vocal of the original, while he ups its unmistakable 303 with an additional dose of acid. Raw, unfiltered licks are in tandem with pounding drums as airy pads and dainty sequences aim to soothe dancefloor madness. Extensively road-tested by Chris Liebing and blessed by Emmanuel Top for release via CLR, this is a mammoth revisit that lives up to the original’s timeless appeal.

Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has hosted a range of artists like Shlomi Aber, Dubfire, Flug, Bjarki, DJ Dextro and more while also focusing on developing newer acts in the scene such as Risa Taniguchi, The Southern, and Klint.

Korpus 9 Records kicks off with a brand new EP from dubspeeka, featuring four tracks of high impact and atmospheric techno. 

Korpus 9 Records is a brand new techno label from Russia managed by Kwazalski. The main aim of the label is to release fresh and innovative material, not only digitally, but also on vinyl. All the imagery and influences of the label come from an abandoned research station that is deep underwater, where unusual events are happening around it on a constant basis. Charged with the first release is shadowy Bristolian producer dubspeeka, who has put out his music on Drumcode, Senso Sounds and Get Physical, runs Skeleton Recordings and has a fierce techno sound. 

The opener here is Garrison, a driving number with heavy drums and a warm but edgy mood. Garrison 2 is more spaced out, with celestial pads baring a feeling of suspense above the firmly rooted drums. Garrison 3 then has lumpy drums that bob up and down, as acid lines, water sounds and metallic hits all add atmosphere to the cavernous groove. Last of all, Garrison 4 is an eerie dub techno track with real drive but also plenty of thoughtful emotions. It closes out a brilliant first EP on this exciting new label.

The Korpus 9 label welcomes Scottish techno talent Hans Bouffmyhre for a new EP. It comes after he has established himself on the world scene on labels like Soma and Perc Trax and gigs at the best clubs around the globe. Now with these four latest cuts he once again shows off his unique, powerful style. 

Opener Unconditional is a deep, driving track with firmly rooted drums and burrowing synth lines that get you in a state of hypnosis before the acidic stabs takes things up a notch. Resonator is another perfectly planned bit of tunnel vision techno that is forceful and linear, racing forwards on bulky drums with subtle synths peeling off the groove. 

Growth Chart then follows a similar path but with celestial chords lighting up the background and a curious lead synth line that gets your attention and pulls you deep into the groove. Finally, the heavyweight Crossbow is another bulky techno roller that is designed for big warehouse spaces. It is economical and efficient and makes for perfectly stripped back but striking techno.

Slam rework Nitzer Ebb Nitzer Ebb, Silent Breed, DK8, Terrance Fixmer and more for the final instalment of their Archive Edit series

Soma label heads Slam curate a specially designed package of tracks to finalise their Archive Edit project that sees them delve deep into Techno’s past to bring some of the genre’s best tracks into the modern age. The Archive Edit project started as a way for Slam to showcase and share the many different edits that had made their way into their DJ sets over the last few years. The pairing of Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle have both raided their extensive collections, picking out tracks that have defined countless sets over their career. Tracks from luminaries such as Nitzer Ebb, Thomas P Heckmann (as Silent Breed), Damon Wild & Terrence Fixmer have been re-edited alongside some of Slam’s own unreleased material, showcasing the duo’s current sound; one that constantly naturally evolves, matures and demonstrates why the duo have been at the forefront of the global scene since its inception.

“We resurrect nine cuts from our archive collective collections for your listening and spinning pleasure. Some are original material, some are live re-edits, some are well-known, others are not! They all have one thing in common, they all attempt to unashamedly destroy dancefloors, and thus featured heavily, (usually toward the end of our DJ sets) in the last year or so well known”. Now we share them with you!"

Slam open the album with an absolute monster track in the form of their rework of the legendary Nitzer Ebb’s ‘Join In The Chant’. The anthemic EBM/post-punk infused original is given a thrashing overhaul from the duo marking one of the standout tracks of this collection.  A special live rework of fan favourite ‘Scorpion’ drops before the previously unreleased ‘Memoriam’ delivers on a more emotive tip. Firing back into the edits is Thomas P Heckmann’s seminal ‘Sync In’, under his Silent Breed Moniker which is a fast-paced, Neo-Trance affair Slam then drop the manic ‘1001’ which takes the BPM stratospheric. DK8’s, Murder Was The Bass is up next and given a 2019 update as the duo's edit snatches up all the most perfect elements of the track leading nicely into a rework of French EBM legend Terence Fixmer’s ‘Body Pressure’ - driving through with its twisted beats and vocals. Another special live edit of the first Archive Edit release, Damon Wild’s Rotary makes an appearance as the album closes out with the rave infected, rework of the Hertz classic ‘Recreate’
