Ah, the weekend. You wake up excited, get up, have a shower and make your way to the airport. You down 5 pints because why not and then board your flight where you fall asleep and snore the entire plane into hating you, after which you land in the city of your show.

You arrive at the hotel and prepare your set feeling more excited by the minute. Your driver picks you up, you go to the artist dinner where your three favourite people ever are already waiting on you, even more drunk than you, and you get smashed and make your way to the venue. You get the bracelet, arrive in your backstage, down another 4 pints, complain to the promoter about the terrible food and then feel bad about it and then you hit the stage. 1300 sweaty people aching to see you DJ.

Life is good.

You plug in your USB and the first track you load up is Sovryn - The Weekend. The crowd absolutely loses it. Sweat and drinks are flying around. Shows are back. You fight to hold back happy tears. You almost forget there's been a pandemic ruining everything for a year and a half.

Amidst the wreckage of a modern empire that had long since fallen into ruin, few vestiges of its once-thriving culture remained. Many of those that had once inhabited this now desolate domain had fled its fall or perished within it, and with them had been lost much of the knowledge that the empire had once possessed. Yet within the rubble and scrap lay material memories waiting eagerly to be accessed by those who came searching for them, saplings of knowledge that sprouted from the ashen soil and stood ready to be reinterpreted and reinvigorated by a new generation of minds that now combed the wastes. The scavengers had come over time, attracted to the legends of hidden treasures that lay within the ruins. For some, the wealth they found was in precious metals or ancient tomes, but for others, that wealth lay in the experiences that could be facilitated by the long-lost technology that waited within.

Thus it was that a certain team of scavengers had come to find themselves hauling a massive black box across the wastes on a wheeled truss. The magnetic core at the center of the device would sometimes attract nearby metallic scrap as flies upon a corpse in their travels, and the scavengers would then set to the tedious work of removing the scrap and carrying it away from their most prized possession. What they sought in their journey were the fragile remnants of the empire’s great constructions, crumbling buildings and boulevards that teetered on the edge of collapse. It was at these sites that they would halt their procession and perform a great ritual. Calling down lightning from the sky with a great aluminum rod, they would channel nature’s inimitable power into the great magnetic core of their device. Then from its fore would emanate the most incredible sound, a thunderous roar that brought calamity to all that stood before it, ripping through the foundations of its target with sheer sonic force. The device’s devotees had long since gone deaf from performing their ritual, but to them, it mattered not - the sheer power of the BASSLINE SHOTTA was something they needed only to feel as they unleashed its glory upon the world.

PROLIX returns to EATBRAIN with his latest single crafted in collaboration with a group of like-minded bassline devotees. Together with AL/SO, Biometric and RHI, PROLIX conducts a bassline ritual for the EATBRAIN horde that is sure to send their bodies into a frenzied trance on the dancefloor.

For millennia, learned individuals the world over have sought to unravel the secrets of alchemy, that famed occult science that allows for the transmutation of elements from one type to another. In the beginning, its secrets were sought by scholars who ingested mercury to prolong the lives of their physical bodies even as its poison vapors drove them to madness. Then came those who sought to transform mundane lead into brilliant, shimmering gold, and they too were poisoned by the former metal’s insidious and lurking aftereffects. In the more recent past, there have been those who have succeeded in the alchemical pursuit to a certain degree, splitting certain heavy elements into their more basal forms through the power of fission, and yet even in their successes these individuals too were poisoned for their hubris, the effects evermore immediate and horrific than those faced by their predecessors. 

Indeed, despite these scientists’ efforts at alphabetical categorization of the known elements, the truth of the gods remains sealed away in the depths of space, guarded by beings unknowable and all-powerful. True transmutation is the property of one singular element carefully withheld from the grasp of mortal beings. Its genesis in the womb of the divine mother gives it this singular quality, and this property has been wielded by the gods since time immemorial to shape, craft, and hone the vast expanses of the universe. Its silvery hue is echoed in the rays of a million distant stars, the children of the divine mother who have in turn given birth to all further life. What mortals have sought for so long has been forever known as ARGENTUM, and its ineffable form shall never grace their greedy hands. 

SITRI returns to EATBRAIN with his latest single, ALPHABET//ARGENTUM, which sees him synthesize futuristic rhythmic sequences and transmute thrashing basslines to surge alongside them for his second EATBRAIN release.
