Once upon a time, in a remote village surrounded by majestic mountains, there was a mysterious man with a long red beard, always enveloped in the smoke of his pipe. This man was known as "Mr. Duduk." It was said that he possessed a magical duduk, capable of enchanting anyone who listened to it. It was said that this ritual had the power to connect people like in a great neural network, allowing them to share thoughts, emotions, and energies in a single harmony.
Thanks to the sound of the duduk and the power of the ritual, people felt part of something greater, immersed in a sea of shared emotions and knowledge. The magical initiatory ritual had the power to unite people in a single consciousness, transforming their existence into a shared experience of magic and universal understanding.

Welcome to my special storytellers' mix series, called "Ancient Hearts", which tells stories from many cultures, invoking the heart and soul of our ancestors, which are rooted in the ancient melancholic sound, which speak of the great suffering in life, BUT also arrive, in the end, at a home full of love and life and joy.

Through exploring the sound of various cultures, we begin to see the same spirit, message, and meaning among the people. We must travel through our sorrow to truly find joy. We must move in relationship with our ancestors' victory in suffering or lose our entire future and hope.

This second episode, the first in a four-part release, is told by me, Desert Raven, and is inspired by the sound of the Balkans and has a powerfully deep, mystical feel, but also has, in increasing measure, danceable energy as each if the four sets progress and over the course of the four set journey. This first story in the Balkanika release is called "Baba Zemja", which means, in the language of North Macedonia, "Grandmother Earth".

It is a deep downtempo mix and really opens up the mystical world in the spiritual realm. As the name implies, the heart of the Earth, the heart of the grandmother, is in us all, and helps us get in touch with our ancient memories, our intuition, our discernment of the heart in very deep ways. It, like the Earth, is the original fertile ground, which gives birth to the entire family tree and holds the tree of life, the roots of our ancestors. This is very Balkan in its outlook, sensibility, and mystical expression, and has some soulful live instrumentals provided by me, for even more soul and spirit and passion.
