little late to the party but luv it anyways

So, a few weeks ago, I received a lovely package from Leo Mas containing a load of late 80's/early 90's Italo House tracks, which form the excellent 'Ciao Italia - Generation Underground' compilation that is forthcoming on Rebirth for Record Store Day.

Listening to the tracks really took me back, so I put together this little tribute mix using only tracks from the comp. It's quite different from what I play these days, but was a lot of fun to do!!

Something really groovy echoes from above. Looking up, we see Apparel Wax’s magic airplane blasting summer vibes on O Sótão’s Guest MIX for July. The mysterious, vinyl-faced character has been making waves in the deep house scene for some time, releasing smoothness and taste in the form of no less than 10 EP’s via his own label, the reputable and Milan-based @Apparel-Music. By inviting him over to host our 10th guest mix, we just knew in what ‘kind of trouble’ we were gettin’ into…

C.J. has been letting the music speak for itself. Having played at BPM, WMC, ADE, Sunset Campout. In the Bay Area at clubs Audio, Love & Propaganda (formerly Vessel), The Great Northern, Temple, The Endup, and The Oasis (Oakland). CJ is a part of the Delta Funk crew who has been doing events for the las 15+ years. Delta Funk has been throwing parties in clubs, underground, after-hours & park events in SF & Oakland. A resident DJ & sound technician at Audio since 2014. I have been a regular guest on Stanford Radio Shows "The Loop" & "Electronic Groove" & during KZSU Summer & Winter Solstice Marathons.

He has posted a new live monthly podcast on since June 2006, plus additional guest mixes on the Delta Funk podcast, Hidden Cove & Broadview Radio. C.J.’s sets can go through a range of just about anything from downtempo/hip-hop to mid-tempo/disco/funk to house/tech-house/techno reading the room and providing the vibe to keep alive.

C.J. is now looking to spend time in the studio now & get some tracks released in 2017 and beyond. He’s been in the studio, making a lot of personal edits of house & disco tracks to fit his DJ style.

His productions have found their way into the live sets of many luminary DJs, such as Rahaan, Mark Farina, Louie Vega, John Morales, 6th Borough Project, In Flagranti, Lady Blactronika, Faze Action, Crazy P, Kenny Dope, Mr. Scruff & many more.

Like his productions, Superbreak sets also showcase his deep and diverse taste. Weaving eclectic disco, adult house and offbeat selections together seamlessly. Always with an ear for groove and harmony and a Master at reading any room or dance floor. 

Kosta’s talents as a tastemaker extend beyond the studio and DJ booth as owner of the respected Superbreak record label. Having amassed a formidable SoundCloud following for his disco reworks
and incredible DJ sets.

An avid record collector, his love of warm analog sounds is ever-present in his selections. In addition to many DJ residencies over the years, Kosta has DJ’d in 4 continents and recently returned from a successful stint in Europe and New York.
