The Allergies have developed a reputation for producing dancefloor assaulting 45's that regularly sell out and this release is no different as You Wouldn't Know fuses upbeat soul jams with their trademark energetic breaks driving underneath the catchiest of vocal hooks.

'I just want to get funky for you today' is the opening statement on Special People and that's exactly what they do as this B-side keeps the party going. Supplied with copious amounts of percussion breaks, jazz flute and a sweet bassline in a groove that could make even a statue dance, there is more funk packed into this track than an out of date stilton.

All killer and no filler all the way through on this 7inch so probably best you do yourself and your record collection a favour and sort one out.

Back in the heady days of the 1990s, some freelance work took the Fort Knox Five into one of the seedy back alleys of Dupont Circle. This alley had one of Washington, DC’s historic carriage houses, and barely hanging on the wall they spotted a relic from a bygone era, a sign advertising the long shuttered McGuires Audio Shop. The sign came home with FK5 and has been hanging in their studio ever since, a reminder of Washington, DC’s epic music heritage. The name and the sign itself are the inspiration for this new instrumental tune from FK5, a return to the classic simplicity and urban cool of yesteryear. “McGuires Audio Shop” is mood music, and the mood is cool like that.

Get ready to take a head-nodding and toe-tapping stroll as the infectious grooves of “McGuires Audio Shop” takes you on a musical journey. Crisp drum breaks and funky beats are complemented by hard-swinging horns throughout. The Horns contributed by the incredible Stuart Cole of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. Listen carefully and you will hear the sound of record scratching, a nod to DJ culture no doubt. A simple tune, yet complex with rich layers, it comes complete with a full breakdown that builds back up under a sweet guitar melody. The Fritz is a lovely legend, he always does nice things and only ever thinks happy thoughts. When life serves him lemons, he makes us lemon meringue pie! 

We’ve had the pleasure of him stalking us in our hometown for some time now, and once, in an outrage over his wonderfulness, we tripped him up at the top of the stairs on purpose. He promptly picked himself up and pointed out that our form was wrong and spent the next three hours making us trip him up until we did it to perfection. He beamed at us through bloody, broken teeth. 

Unsurprising then that he’s produced an ultra schweet debut EP of utter beauty. Eight years in the making (thanks to Spinforth's notoriously fussy ears) - each track has been stewed and refined to absolute perfection - it’s happy, it’s positive, and emphatically Fritz-y.
