DJ Kool Merc is a DJ, beat maker, and music producer from Rock Hill, SC. Originally starting in the 1980's, he spent his early years listening to radio, learning what makes great music by listening to at least 8 hours of music a day for 3 years. As his ability as a DJ increased, his curiosity of how music is made, moved him into beat making and producing. After years of working on small project and working as a performance DJ with his own emcees, he moved totally into music producing and continued to learn about the business and the art of music creation. He also spent these same years supporting and encouraging individuals to keep making music and writing. 

The importance of his role behind the scenes became clear when he helped assemble the original 4 members of a local group called "N-Phase", which later added a 5th member and signed with Maverick Records, a joint venture of Madonna, others, and Warner Music Group. The group released "Spend the Night", written and produced by R. Kelly. Though not involved in the first album, DJ Kool Merc, optioned for 3 spots on the second album, which was never realized due to unforeseen external factors.   

After working in radio as a radio engineer and producer, DJ Kool Merc has returned to producing new music after a long hiatus. He is now producing new tracks and remastering old tracks for release from those early days. The tracks here are a mixture of his current music and tracks from the past, which reflect his fusion approach to music making which involve elements from all genres from the 70's to present day.
