It’s Scour Records’ one year anniversary! Twelve months ago we released Scour Cream Volume 01, so to mark the occasion we thought we’d hold a Hunger Games-type celebration, unfortunately none of us are very good with weapons or murder or being murdered. An Olympics style celebration seemed a little over the top, It’s A Knock Out was on the cards but our budget ran out after making one large shoe for the Bulgarians. So we’ve scaled it down, come round to ours and have a proper party, old school fancy dress styleeee!

All the party games are prepped - pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey, kiss chase, naked twister, finger the angry fox, trampoline darts on poppers, all the big ones! The party sideboard is prepared! Vimto for the gents, cherryade for the ladies, Babycham for the hardcore fetishists. Bombay mix, cocktail sausages, cheese and pineapple, vol-au-vants (hopefully filled with whatever made Kerry Katona go all fruity) Anything missing, hmmmm….of course! An assortment of nuts and some party tunes! All wrapped up in a free 4 track goody bag for each and every one of you to take home!

Father Funk rocks out the bubble perm and comes strutting through the front door like a funky white brother. Who’s he come as? Mika? Kevin Keegan? No silly! He’s come as Leo Sayer!

Leo fires a bazooka in through the porch and shoots two AK47’s like he’s trying to kill every mother in the room. Apparently he likes his men like he likes his coffee (with milk and two sugars) Pimpin’!

Is that Prince tucking into the Jelly and Ice Cream? ha! Yes! It’s Warp9! Top costume!, really would prefer it if you didn’t try and make our doves cry though…they really don’t like to see your starfish impression…

The Phunk Junkies need no encouragement to crack the pearls out, before you can say ’Sir Very Elton of John’ they’ll be in a wig and heels, have the lippy on and be sashaying down the hall towards the toilet. RuPaul? Lilly Savage? Oh hell no, those legs can only belong to Dame Shirley Bassey.

Hang on a sec, sorry about this….LEO! GET YOUR FINGER OUT OF THE FOX!! it’s not time yet! Father! Leave the Phunk Junkies alone, it’s not that kind of party! Put the guns down! Oh for God’s sake!
 
Take your goody bag and go! We need a plunger, a SWAT team and a vet, pronto!

Steven Seagal's kicking about somewhere, donning nipple tassels and a thong (standard) - either hiding in a big cake in the hold or fighting to the death with an already tanked up Kotch - Karate chop! Dott Com & Bear Twists are getting all emosh - standing at the front of the boat declaring they're "Kings of the world!" Bloody Leo's already torn through the sails with his sabre, shouting "Hey You Guuuys!" at the top of his voice. But don't panic! The Captain has a steely grip on the wheel...or is it a tiller...hang about, where's he gone? What do you mean he's sexoring all the ladies with T-Pain and Posiedon?!! Who's steering this bloody thing?!

We haven't even made it out of the dry dock yet! Mayday! MAYDAY! Ahh, funk it...PAAARRRTAAY!"

Boogie Oogie Oogie

The Q Orchestra (previously known as The Quasamodo Orchestra) is the musical project led by Greek producer, musician and songwriter Dimitris Nassios. Since 2006 the group has released their music via various labels, as well as remixing acts like Basement Freaks and Quincy Joints, and in turn had their own material reworked by names such as The All Good Funk Alliance, Omegaman and Valique. After building up this solid reputation, in 2009 they signed a brand new record deal with Freestyle Records.

Citing influences as far reaching as Blaze, Bob Sinclair, Earth Wind and Fire, Dimitri from Paris, Deodato, Thievery Corporation, Nirvana and The Prodigy ensures that their music is in touch with the roots of soul and also the cutting edge of modern sounds and that is directly reflected in the new music on this brand new album Journey Through Sounds.

Kicking off with Simon Says Dont Stop, which perfectly displays the groups collective influences, kicking funk heavy break beats sit underneath the brassiest of horns line, whilst a scratchy guitar underpins the massive, uptempo groove, we hear how hard funk sounds in a hard drive! MC Coppa takes centre stage on Wise Words 2 Live By adding his London-centric vowel sounds to the international soundscape the band create. The chugging disco feel of Boogie Nights lets vocalist Jennie Kapadai work her thing out - quite beautifully. 

Another of the many highlights is The Pink Rider which is a collaboration with The Sly Players (Good Groove Records) and is a deeply grooving contemporary disco tinged funk number that has a delightful and sublime groove that evokes The Gaturs club classic Gatur Bait but infuses it with something akin to Greek sunshine!

The Ritmo Diabolico/Pink Rider 12 inch single (FSR080) already created a serious buzz, with names like Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos), Trevor Mack (Jalapeno Records) Dr Bob Jones, Flevans, Diesler all singing the bands praises and rinsing the single in their club and radio sessions around the globe. With great support like that, we anticipate great things for The Q Orchestra as they spread their positive, Mediterranean musical vibes, a rewarding Journey Through Sounds awaits!
