The echoes of the synth move like sun rays among the dancing motes of dust over a dance floor. The bass is flexing with the botanic elasticity of a tall tree in the wind. Yet the shadows of this summer soundscape reach deep. There’s something lurking from the sharp edges of the sawtooth acid line that is digging into the groove with a pleasant punch to it. There’s something at the bottom of the simple, trancy melody. It finds full expression in the vocal... With The Devil In Us, Mollono.Bass integrates contradictory moods into a smooth groove. 1. Close To Me

Following on from his debut instalment, 'Cracked', released earlier this year, Jean René Lai returns on Stil vor Talent with his eagerly anticipated new EP, 'Close To Me'. In Lai's own admission a firm favourite amongst his own catalogue of productions, 'Close To Me' blazes with that deep, intimate fire within, elegantly bridging the gap between floor-functionality and far-reaching emotion. A minutely arranged display of Lai's many talents for crafting intensely touching melodies alongside haunting rhythms, the lead-single fringes the junction of ethereal pop, deep house and atmospheric techno on a nostalgic tip. An escapist's dream, brushing a most vivid tableau of moody ambience and piercing honesty, and elevating the listener to higher spheres of consciousness with every bar as the voice iterates its mesmerising mantra. More of a hip-swaying affair, 'OK you feel' retains that signature sense of washed-out melancholy but fleshes it out with further volatile synth-smithery and dubbed-out drum programming, sound designed and layered to subjugating effect. The result is a tune that packs both a nasty club-busting ability and that insane waves-ready pop potential, which you can't help but see taking dance floors by storm this summer and beyond.

With his surprise fifth studio album ‘Magickal’ continuing to resonate across the global electronic landscape, Damian Lazarus now unveils the second half of the project’s ambitious remix series. Out 26th September via Crosstown Rebels, ‘Magickal Remixed (Part II)’ enlists the talents of Cinthie, Timo Maas, and Anthony Middleton, with each of the three celebrated artists bringing their unique perspective to the Crosstown head’s latest long-player. Arriving in both digital and vinyl formats, this three-track package builds on the energy of Part I, which featured takes from Harry Romero, Jonathan Kaspar, and Mëstiza, and THEMBA’s earlier remix of lead single Searchin’, continuing a journey that reimagines Magickal’s most defining moments through fresh, club-ready interpretations.
Opening the release, Berlin favourite Cinthie takes on ‘Y Don’t U’, injecting her signature analogue warmth and groove-driven touch into the album cut, reworking it into a silky, floor-focused workout that radiates her unmistakable house sound. Longstanding innovator Timo Maas steps up next with his remix of ‘Warrior Dance’, Lazarus’ amapiano-inspired collaboration with Ghanaian artist Jojo Abot. Stripping back and rebuilding the track into a hypnotic, low-slung affair, Maas balances subtle percussive detail with deep, pulsating basslines to create an intoxicating new dimension. Closing out the EP, Anthony Middleton, formerly one half of Audiofly, reshapes the soulful ‘So Low’ featuring Zoe Kypri into a textured and emotionally charged journey, weaving its vocal lines through expansive sound design and rolling grooves.
As Damian unveiled at the album’s initial shock drop, ‘Magickal’ was conceived as a complete body of work, capturing clarity, transformation, and a deepened sense of connection. With ‘Magickal Remixed’, that world is opened up further, with close friends and esteemed peers recasting its tracks in their own artistic languages, providing a multifaceted exploration of the original record’s spirit and purpose.

After delivering an electrifying remix of Folgar & Chumbita’s Meltdown in late 2024, Portuguese producer Vini Pistori returns to Kiosk ID with ‘Life’—a four-track EP that threads technical sophistication and suspended emotion into a sprawling brand of hypnotic, floor-focused energy. Drawing on personal memory, Life reads like an audio diary—intensely textured, lushly composed, and grounded in a powerfully human sonic philosophy.   ‘The Green Tree’ is a lush, atmospheric groover. Built around a lively bassline and rustling found-sound percussion, the opener progressively transforms quivering pulses and wondersome chord progressions into a melodic flurry of energy, ever sharper and more electric.
