Coco G Diez, vibraphone and marimba player, is at the forefront of this project from Spain, where are involved different musicians from the world of jazz, latin jazz, funk, electronic, and other waves...

               When the members of Tom Tom Makuts met in 2008, they sought to combine their different cultural and musical backgrounds, and find a common musical direction. What emerged was a form of 'Acoustic Hip Hop', which involved organic instrumental backgrounds and an MC's words.

               A big range of influences can be heard in their music. You can hear the language of jazz, Latin rhythms, funk, disco-dance “ostinato” and the unmistakable Brazilian rapping of Junaum Luca. On stage, they use instruments of different origin: orchestral, traditional Brazilian, ethnic percussion, electronic ... and even some which they have invented, where objects have been removed from their original context.

              During their rapid ascendency, they have participated in a number of music festivals, including the Jazz Festival of Vitoria-Gasteiz 2009, Jazzaharrean gasteizarra 2010 and the San Sebastian Jazz Festival of the same year.

              The Funk Link magazine has listed them as part of the essential funk scene of the Basque Country and they have been invited to the presentation of one of its publications in Madrid. The Provincial Council of Alava (Spain) has given them the award for “Best Demo Tape of 2010” and Mondo Sonoro magazine awarded them “Best Demo of the year in the Basque Country”.

I love to listen to a wide variety of musical styles and to find new artists and sounds.

I'm a mallet & percussion player with a wide range of musical interests. Here are many examples of different work and collaborations I have done over the years as an instrumentalist, music producer, and composer.

I can record acoustic marimba, vibraphone and bell lines, and also electronic mallets using a Will Wernick's Xylosynth.
I'm open for work inquiries and collaborations, and available for live gigs or recording at either music studios or remotely from my studio setup.
