Solid Steel (25th July) We start this week with Leeds based producer Bambooman who has his EP 'Dulcet' out on Sonic Router. He has also released on Brownswood and Project Mooncircle, and this is what he said about his mix:
"I tried to make the mix as summery as possible to go with the great weather we've been having; so here's hoping it gives of that vibe! I included a few old favourites - tracks that inspired me to make music in the first place from people like Edan, Moondog and Storms and Stress - alongside some new stuff I found that I've really been feeling from Lonnie Holley, Mo Kolours and Connan Mockasin before tying it off with 'Like A Hawk'; a track by my good friend's band, Golden Teacher. The rest of the mix is all my own material: Bambooman tracks (some released, some not) alongside tracks I've produced for London based soul singer, Segilola and bits from my side project Grouphums and 'Ferric' from my Rhodo Dendron collaboration alongside producer Venuq.
Best served with sunshine and an ice cold juice..."

Solid Steel (20th January) In Hour 1 this week it’s the turn of the excellent Phonica Records in London with a mix by Zappan Tee dropping a personal selection of music kicking off with Tamikrest, Lena Platonos and Miyako Koda, before expanding into tracks from Miele, Mystic Slot and Arthur Russell. He had this to say;
"I discovered Solid Steel through Hip Hop many moons ago, but over the years its eclecticism expanded my musical horizon and pushed me to dig in more than one place. For this reason, I wanted to create some sort of Slow Listening mix that spanned a broad range of genres and tempos. I have been quite enjoying this form of music consumption lately, as opposed to the Hip Hop mixing style that influenced me so much when I first started djing, with quick transitions and condensed tracklists.
Although 1h is not much time to develop an articulate discourse, I think there is some sort of narrative holding the selection together. Hopefully the listeners will gently let go and get immersed in this guided visit to the different corners of my labyrinthine record collection. Exit via the last track only!"

It has been a long time since we've posted something here, so decided to change that by posting some unfinished ideas for the last album.  We didn't really know how to advance this one, so it ended with some jokes by throwing some hip hop acapellas in the end.

It’s terrible that it’s taken something as horrific as this for so many people, including myself, to wake up to the fact that not enough is being done. I know that George Floyd is one of an enormous number of black people killed at the hands of racists - heartbreaking incidents sitting atop the foundations of normalised every day acts of white supremacy in the US, the UK & beyond. I will be taking steps to further educate myself on ways in which I can be a positive force in the fight for equality going forward. Hopefully this release can spread some love & do some good.
Bandcamp are waiving their fees once again on Friday so that would be the best time to purchase/donate.
