To be free, means to be a freak. Whether as a DJ, label manager, T-Shirt creator or all-round talent – since two decades, Ellen Allien is one of Berlin’s exceptional phenomena that have created her own universe with the combination of old school-based underground love and contemporary experimental spirit. After the lovely musical affair with Thomas Muller for the track „Free Nation“, for her new solo release we hear the anniversary bells ringing. The three tracks – which are co-produced by Martin Eyerer and Skinnerbox – already mark the 300th catalog number of BPitch Control.
The „Freak EP“ is not only the result of the last months in Berlin; it also flags up the change to Ibiza, where Ellen uses the warm season to spray her positive vibe during her residency in DC 10. „Butterfly“ acts like the kick-off and not only host graceful 808 pinpricks, with the dreamy melody in the background a nostalgic aura raises that reveals Ellen’s warmer side. Especially the bass rumble emphasizes the physicality of her music in an impressive manner – in short: pure love. „Come To
Me“ is desire and passion within seven and a half minutes. In addition to the deep house frame groovy beats pushes in the foreground that sets free a hypnotic mantra. Spineless dancefloor magic that rewinds time with the haunting rave signal, floating Roland synths and the SH101 raveline. With the title track „Freak The Night Away“, Ellen once more succeeded in creating a hymn that embodies both the slogan of every great night as well as the strong atmosphere of her energetic DJ sets. Again, we hear Ellen’s charming voice – crazy, playful, creative. Following the motto: just go! With rattling claps and a warm bass, dancing won’t become a compulsion; the track clearly goes under the skin with its 303 acid hints as well as Roland piano sounds and opens the gate to another dimension. And here we go again, bringing you another massive dancefloor smash on Formatik Records, this time crafted and well polished in the studio of Berlin's only David Keno, who has amassed an impressive catalogue of releases and remixes throughout the past decade from early 12“es on i220 to singles on Trapez LTD, Mother, URSL, his very own Keno Recordings and way beyond.

The title track „Black Betty“ delivers a fascinating electronic take on a prominent and well-known vocal sample from the Rock'n'Roll era, transfers it to a modernistic, octane-fueled TechHouse context and comes across as perfect crossover tune amalgamating underground and mass appeal within 269 seconds of madness.

As a bonus we see Robosonic, also responsible for a large remix of Format: B's uber-hit „Chunky“ on Formatik Records in early 2k15, at the remix controls, delivering a massive warehouse rave stomper built on a rock-solid foundation of banging drums, dirty signals, hoovers and – of course – the trademark vocals works for the laser, fog and glowstick massive. If you need to get 3000 ppl go absolute bonkers within a few bars this is a remix for you.

The Canadian DJ & Producer Etienne Ozborne supplies us with two summer dancefloor-highlights that we can not wait to get into your hands. After the success of the A Sides Parts 1 to 3 releases it’s with great pleasure that we can now present our next release to you from Wehbba, making his Elevate debut in the form of the excellent ‘The Observer EP’.

This 3 track release from the super talented Brazilian producer who is based in Barcelona follows on from releases on other esteemed labels such as Tronic, Systematic, Bedrock and Transmit records and boy has he given Elevate some absolute corkers here.

The title track of the EP is ‘Observer’ with it’s hypnotic swung moody grooves giving off dark and edgy vibes that builds and builds with an acid tinged stacatto hook throughout that really gives the dancfloor a good workout. Next up is 'Lake Ghost’ which is a much more four to the floor driving percussive track with a melodic arpeggio that just keeps on layering and layering over the track. 'Step Up' does just that with its big room sounds and stomping kick with thumping sub bass stabs, this is a real banger to finish off with.

All in all an EP with something for everyone that just oozes the production talent synonymous with Wehbba. Enjoy
