Aritomi: 
He has started his musical activities as a FM radio DJ in the mid 90's, on a French local radio. The electronic music project Aritomi began when the radio had to close down in the late 90's. 
Initially, it was a simple experiment with sounds made on a very limited equipment. The style has evolved over the years, from House and Techno at the beginning, to a more minimal blend of Deep, Ambient and Dub Techno, but still quite melodic. 
Living in Japan since 2000, Aritomi has performed DJ sets at "Echo Chamber" events, Dub Techno parties organised by Tsubasa Arakawa, and released EPs or tracks on Zero Signal Records (Altone's label), Hello Strange, Solar Phenomena, and Slope Point.

It is our honour to present KÖRKARLEN SUITE, a project of two experimental music composers and musicians: Kragrowargkomn and Jori Josiphson. This time, it's in a shortened version. In January 2022, they created an alternative soundtrack to the more than a century-old Swedish silent film named Körkarlen (Phantom Carriage) from 1921. They premiered their soundtrack for this film at the festival SCANDI 2022 at Kino Film Europe in Bratislava.

The most famous element of Körkarlen movie is undoubtedly its depiction of the spirit world as a tormented void between Heaven and Earth. Director and screenwriter Victor Sjöström achieved this with double exposition... at the beginning of the last century. The viewer gradually, slowly uncovers the story of the drunkard and tyrant David, because the film's scenes do not follow in a chronological order. David's posthumous ortel and his conversation with Death are thus interspersed with flashbacks and memories of his previous earthly life. The themes of alcoholism and domestic violence captured in this audiovisual work are still eerily relevant today...

Slow and rumbling crawling long drones form the basis of Kragrowargkomn's sound and musical aesthetic. It's achieved thanks to an under-tuned six-string bass guitar and an array of effects pedals and tube machines, such as the legendary Sunn o))). Jori Josiphson combines acoustic instruments (such as Indian harmonium or Tibetan singing bowl) with electronics in his works. In doing so, this artist makes room for a symbiosis of electronic and acoustic sound to emerge. Jori Josiphson's research is based on the search for a certain balance, which allows him to delve into the depths of his own knowledge.

Both authors and performers of this „Körkarlen“ alternative soundtrack respected the progression of the audio-visual work. To enhance the horror atmosphere, they used a combination of the acoustic sound of the Indian harmonium and of the distorted sound of six-string electric bass guitar. This electroacoustic fusion is complemented by vocals, tibetan bowl and synthesizer. In an elegant way they combined drone music and dark ambient with funeral doom.

PROLOG

For a long time I wanted to create an ambient serie with music that reflects the elements like Earth, Air, Water but also Space and nature. So many ambient tracks are directly connected with our surroundings using samples, and field recordings for example. This serie is gonna be around 5 chapters long. The first one is Space.

For this session I have the theme Space. Space ambient exists for a long time. In the early days of synthersizer music the sounds that where created came almost from another dimension. Never heard before but the computer syntersized is to be heared. Scifi is almost directly connected with spacial sounds and syntersizer music.

Inverted Horizon

Captain Elara stood on the bridge of the starship Eclipse, gazing at the inverted horizon of the planet below. The skies of Andromeda shimmered with hues of violet and gold, a breathtaking sight that never ceased to amaze her.

“Prepare for deep recon,” she commanded, her voice steady. The mission was critical: to explore the unstable orbit of the newly discovered planet, codenamed Dimension Zero.

As the ship descended, the crew could see the Hectronic lights flickering in the distance, remnants of an ancient civilization. “We’re entering the void,” Elara announced, feeling a shiver of anticipation.

The divine cosmos stretched out before them, an endless expanse of stars and mysteries. “Activate the scanners,” she ordered. The data they collected would be invaluable for understanding the planet’s unique properties.

Hours passed as they navigated the treacherous terrain. Finally, the ship’s sensors picked up a signal. “We’ve found something,” the science officer reported. “It looks like a portal.”

Elara’s heart raced. “Prepare for return,” she said. “We need to analyze this data back at the base.”

As the Eclipse ascended back into the skies of Andromeda, Elara couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment. They had ventured into the unknown and emerged with new knowledge, ready to unlock the secrets of Dimension Zero.
