'Cumbias Imaquinarias' is an EP going full circle to one of El Buho’s earliest inspirations for making electronic music: digital Cumbia. It was a scene that exploded out of Buenos Aires around 2008 and went global. The scene got saturated and fell out of fashion but gave birth to artists like Chancha Via Circuito, Frikstailers, El Remolon and was a big inspiration for him as a young producer. For El Buho there was always something there: the entrancing magic of the cumbia rhythm reimagined for the electronic dancefloor. Cumbia is a music that is at once globally connected but also so diverse, evolving and growing into so many subshoots of this one simple rhythm. This EP presents three Cumbias and one porro rhythm (a derivation of the Cumbia rhythm from the Colombian Caribbean which evolved into its own style).

This Cumbia was written with the idea of doing a very synthetic, electronic Cumbia and was written during lockdown in a time of general anxiety. It was made during one of those moments of anxiety where music was a form of escapism and there is definitely something therapeutic about the production. Funnily enough the track doesn’t sound particularly anxious.

We transformed the Maloca into an outdoor sound studio and recorded all sounds with binaural microphones. The whole community gathered around the sacred fire to play with us. Together we created this crazy psychedelic hip hop track. eigenklang's johann @schlaufe heated up the place with some crazy beats out of the Pocket Operator.

Boundary-pushing composer and sound designer Andi Otto returns with his new album ‘Rwandance’, which sees live instruments, studio recordings and sampled archival material melded together as part of an electrifying reimagining of the musical traditions of Rwanda.

‘Rwandance’ is a collaboration between Rwandan dancer and musician Evariste Karinganire and cello player and electronic music producer Andi Otto, brought together by a chance connection. Inspired by Steve Reich, Mark Pritchard’s Harmonic 313 and Otto’s mesmerising musical experiences touring India, Otto built software to translate the intensity of Karinganire’s hand claps into different synth notes - the structure and time signature of traditional Rwandan music providing the framework for Otto’s creations, new instruments and sounds incorporated into its parameters.

Otto follows a path similar to many producers from Latin America’s burgeoning electronic music scene but instead of using Andean folk music as a starting point, he reappraises Rwandan music mirroring traditional sounds but similarly, reimagined through a contemporary lens. ‘Rwandance’ follows Otto’s 2016 link-up with Indian singer and actress M.D. Pallavi and underground hit ‘Bangalore Whispers’, a showcase for his original approach to cross-cultural musical dialogue. He has since cemented that reputation with subsequent albums “Via” and “Bow Wave”, weaving global sounds into his distinct sonic approach.

Shika Shika is a home for music that combines organic and electronic sounds, a meeting place between the past and the future. (They also put an emphasis on supporting artists, splitting profits in their favour.) This chimes exactly with what Otto wanted to achieve in his collaboration with Karinganire, taking deeply-rooted traditions and giving them a new sonic make-up.

KRΔUT is the moniker of Amsterdam’s household name Daniel Zuur  @danielzuur. With this alter ego he’s bound to bring his audience a flux of world music influenced electronica, different tempo’s and lots of percussion.  Daniel has been a staple in the Amsterdam club scene since 2009. His unique sound and organic mixes have earned him a name in the alternative electronic music scene, as his sets have been attributed to being melancholic, dynamic but above all, deeply melodic.  Haunted by the drums and his experience as a drummer in several bands, Daniel has developed an exceptional rhythm and sound that no label will do justice. As KR∆UT he released on labels like Shika Shika, Wonderwheel Recordings, Metanoia, Cosmic Awakenings, Tropical Twista Records and recently on new label The Other Eye where he got remixed by sir Acid Pauli.   The producer composes sets that exist in their own singularity; every single one being an individual story that creates its own atmosphere. Every set is textured by a whole variety of original tracks that he adapts with precise care and proper timing live on stage: dialogues, natural sounds and warm beats, all treated into a highly dynamic and unique set. Live he played at national and international clubs and festivals such as: Sisyphos, Fusion Festival, Gardens of Babylon, Wildeburg, Marktkantine, Garbicz and Welcome to the Future.
