A Cello and Violin adaptation of Chammak Challo. There are a total of 5 separately recorded Cello layers and 5 violin. The percussion was programmed using the "Indian and Middle-eastern kit" on Logic Pro X. The raga playing at the start is Thodi but the song meanders into melodic & harmonic minor keys.

Over the past year my increasing interest in Electronic music(EDM, House, etc) has led me to envision the interplay between Carnatic ragas and EDM synths and grooves on track. I came up with this track when I was playing some synthesizers in a western melodic scale called Phrygian. I found myself humming an alaap in Raga Sindhu Bhairavi soon as a couple of synth phrases were done. There seems to be such an irresistable pull between the beautiful variations of the raga and the repetitive nature of the electronic part underneath. Here is a version of me playing a violin alaap and swaram in Raga Sindhu Bhairavi as the first video of a new series, House of Carnatic.
