I opened one of my poetry anthologies randomly and stumbled on this short, heartfelt verse by Anne Brontë. I kept the singing quite simplistic as it seemed more important to sing/read it accurately than with any stylistic flare, and Andy accompanied me, and did all the technical stuff. We hope you enjoy our rendition of it.

“My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring
And carried aloft on the wings of the breeze;
For above and around me the wild wind is roaring,
Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas.
The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing,
The bare trees are tossing their branches on high;
The dead leaves, beneath them, are merrily dancing,
The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky.
I wish I could see how the ocean is lashing
The foam of its billows to whirlwinds of spray;

A few of my esteemed peers have been writing some songs about getting older.  Here's one that pretty much shreds any dignity I had but then so does getting old.  There's so much going on to cry, scream, and rage about right now it's probably best just to try and laugh instead.

I take medicine in daily doses
I got lumbego, piles, and early onset halitosis
I'm stiff in every part of my body but the one
so it ain't much chance of me getting lucky
 I'm gonna take my rubber ducky
hang out at the swimmin pool like a turtle in the sun

I look over what do see there's this big woman waving at me
she got a nurse's uniform on she got her hair all tucked up in a regulation bun
Pops I'll take care of you I'll work you up and down and then I'll change your drawers when we're through
whew Glory be from whence comes thou angel of mercy

AARP how can this be so doggone sweet 
you came to me in my time of need how could I cope if you ever go 
oh yes I'll gladly pay the fee

WOW.... What a crew. Stephen aka TexMex Shaman and guitarist and  Producer extraordinaire and responsible for the awesome artwork, Janine Levinson with a voice that melts my heart, Uziel who is so courageous in her exquisite creations, and Jo Richter(Sonic Structures and Silent Stretches) Poet laureate and Sonic Naturalist all teamed up to make this little poem of mine into an Amazing Song.
