... There's Brassmaster!


A new toy arrived in the post today - a Behringer Bass Brassmaster Fuzz. This is a recreation of the early 70s Maestro fuzz of the same name. The cheeky Behringer clone copies the looks of the original but is considerably smaller.

It doesn't sound at all like a brass section but it is a great bass fuzz as it splits the signal between fuzz ('Brass vol', 'Sensitivity' knobs) and clean ('Bass vol' knob) with a couple of switches ('Brass 1/2', 'Harmonic 1/2') to alter the character and tone of the fuzz. The controls are very interactive and you can really dial in the fuzz to sit well in the track.

This is a quick looper session to try it out. There's one fuzz bass line laid down onto the looper and then I come in with a second fuzz bass played 'live' over the top - double bass! :)
