Exclusive: Mayflo - Bmore Gurl

Paris label for exquisite music, Community Center, readies the next EP on the label, which comes from ever busy artist Mayflo. Latter is highly known due to his radio presence with residencies at RinseFM, Le Mellotron or Station Station. Behind the decks he's not only made a name under his Mayflo artist moniker but also as part of Les Déménageurs Bresson, or with his collective ItinéraireBis. His five tracker Solar Club Continuum on Community Center, a blissful affair, combines several (positive) musical influneces on one EP: there's a warm House-note, some Bristol Breaks and a touch of Baltimore Club-vibes that the artist smoothly and skilfully blends to come up with a diverse yet sophisticated EP that does not neglect the fun factor. The A2, Bmore Gurl, pays tribute to R&B music in the same way as it does to the beforementioned Bristol Breaks. The U Remind Me vocals (from Usher's 2001 hit) are sharply implemented and repeated throughout the track taking you either back to these days or let's you discover them in a new habit. Whatever applies to you, Bmore Gurl is one of those tracks that just puts a smile on your face and Mayflo managed to use the vocal and blend it with deep chords and a break-esque bass line in a way that it is a meaningful take for today's dancefloors. 

Mayflo's EP Solar Club Continuum will be released on Community Center on October 22nd, 2021.

EXCLUSIVE: Mayflo - Bmore Gurl [Community Center]

DJ and producer Seb Wildblood has joined forces with rapper and vocalist Theophilus London on new record ‘MDS’, out via All My Thoughts.

‘MDS’ is an infectiously percussive house cut, characterised by vibrant bass stabs, understated grooves and Theophilus’ seductive vocals. It follows his move to Los Angeles and the launch of his monthly radio show on Dublab.

Speaking about the forthcoming EP, which is also set to feature North London lyricist Lex Amor, Seb explains: “Both tracks are heavily influenced by a lot of the sounds I was listening to back in the early 2010's. ‘The instrumentals have a very UK bass & garage feel to them. I thought it would be interesting to create an amalgamation of worlds, via inviting Theophilus to collaborate on MDS & Lex to collaborate on Night Ride’. He adds, “The release also represents a geographic change for me, having recently moved from the UK, the EP feels symbolic of the switch, with Theo being LA-based & Lex London.”

UK-born, Seb Wildblood has spent the last few years forging a sonic identity focused on transportive experiences. Whether it’s in tracks designed for the dancefloor, or in those more suited to headphones, the recurring theme across his musical output is one of subtlety and depth. Recent highlights include a debut BBC Essential Mix, composing music for JW Anderson’s collection reveals at Paris Fashion Week and London Fashion Week, and curating a virtual festival featuring Arlo Parks, Kelly Lee Owens, Move D, and more. 

Capturing the imagination with his effortless journey between sounds, Theophilus London’s warm blend of genres, including hip-hop, soul-pop, electro, and contemporary R&B, have seen the talent rise meteorically in recent years, with the Trinidad-born American collaborating with the likes of Kanye West & Tame Impala. ‘MDS’ releases ahead of Theophilus’ highly anticipated album due out on Secretly Canadian.

The full EP is out November 19th and will also include a Warehouse Mix of the original and a remix from Sydney-based producer DJ Plead.
