“Time To Get Funky And Raw” was played by the band in 1993 and reached us in the form of several low-quality recordings from cassette tapes. 

I completely re-created the original track’s sound by resynthesizing each instrument from scratch, sampling classic hardcore stabs and programming drum patterns. It also has my own personality, expressed in more acidic and dark atmosphere.

I'd like to thank Liam Howlett, the leader of the band, whose ideas inspired me to make bold experiments and whose talent taught me to work hard over every little detail in the music.

With their first collaborative release on Cognitive Music, Bad Boyz Of Breakz members KJ of K5 and DJ Chronic bring some fire with Take Me Away, a very energetic, funky, old school feeling track with complextro elements that blends vocals and pianos into the vibe.

The track begins with a funky, hard break and chopped up vocals, setting the energy level high from the start.  As it winds toward the first break, an aggressive electro bass is introduced, bringing some grit with it.  As the beat drops out, a soft melody and vocal samples build to a frenzy, leading to the drop.  A solid complextro line is interspersed with the main vocal sample, weaving in and out while building to the main break.  Here, an old school piano line comes in, bringing with it a hands in the air feeling.  Travelling between both vibes with ease, this is an amazing track from start to finish.

T. Williams is one of a select few who are adept at dicing up both pet projects and payoff packets. Despite being a constant on the cruiserweight festival circuit for a good few years, he's never looked likely to sever those early ties to a label like Local Action. That being said, he's looked even less likely to put the jumper cables to his long-dormant grime alias — until now.

The first Dread D release in almost a decade is a return to the weighty dubs that slyly snuck into the libraries of thousands of MySpace/MSN-ing grime geeks (if you recognise yourself here, go check; you might be surprised). “Siege 1" is the most direct of the lot, with a generous twelve seconds to brace yourself before all hell breaks loose. It’s a direct callback to the glory days of Wizzbit, Jon E Cash and DJ Oddz. Fully amazing, basically.
