Delivering our first podcast of 2023 is the much love Munich-based duo Rhode & Brown. The pair have been steadily delivering slamming house cuts via the likes of Toy Tonics, Permanent Vacation, Shall Not Fade and of course their own superb Slam City Jams imprint for a few years now. It's a pleasure to welcome them onto the series with just over an hour or dreamy House, raw grooves and classing leaning cuts.

As part of the Tout Feu Tout Femme-collective as well as a steady member and contributor for Friendsome Records Tatie Dee has been stirring up the House scene for a moment. And latter does not seem to slow down since she just released a classy and classic EP - her first one - called Purple Wave on Friendsome Records continuing the label's musically taken path, namely that of releasing quality House music exploring various sub-genres it or in her own words: "This EP is the realization of everything I learned. From Acid to House, I oscillated between my two favorite styles to produce four dancefloor oriented tracks." However, Tatie goes into detail with her musical upbringing as well as the EP and many other topics in the interview with Torture the Artist and delivers a blissful hour of pure House music to go with it. Never has a reading pleasure been accompanied with such tempting sounds.

Dedicated to the twang of Roland’s silver baseline box with a varied string of artists: DVS1, Marko East & Jordi Chu (whose collaboration sparked the idea of a whole series), Like A Tim via Prins Thomas, Katerina and I:Cube.

The Parisian put it in a nutshell, too: „Although rinsed to death to the point of becoming a parody of itself, acid will last forever.“ Therefore, his Folie Noire is combining the original recipes with hypnotic European influences, while Marko and Jordi present a rough and direct 303-909 live jam, Prins Thomas puts his wickedest smile on Like A Tim’s Wonderline from 2005 and Katerina sets a lucid dream to sanguine music.

Finally, there is a rare and much desired musical outing by the unique DVS1. A direct ode to Chicago’s acid and beatdown styles and its Midwest companions, it is a heads-down-lights-down late night track made for driving up and down Lower Wacker Drive. Trippy trip artwork by the inimitable Gasius.

Trivia: If the piano is the bread of house music, the acid line is its butter!

With a good few releases under his belt on labels such as Gene On Earth’s The Sound Of Limo, Gestalt Records, The Sound Of Steam or Craigie Knowes Bristol-based artist Boulderhead has built quite a formidable discography since 2020 and if pressing plants weren’t as busy as they are, the Welsh would have even more music of himself out there. Aside from releasing own music Henry James, Boulderhead’s real name, runs his own label Mint Tea, on which he’s been putting out VAs only so far, also including music from himself under his real name. However, since the label is a passion project according to Henry it does not follow a regular releasing schedule but now seems to be back with an EP and maybe more. In an interview with Torture the Artist Boulderhead speaks about the success of his latest release, the future of the label, how he likes his tea served and more. Additionally he’s mixed and compiled the latest edition of the art:cast series and it’s a deep-treat.
