As previously announced the forthcoming vinyl compilation LP “Transience" will feature a new recording of Lazarus, originally recorded by Porcupine Tree for the “Deadwing" album in 2004.  

To mark the release of this new version you can listen to my original demo of the song.  This was actually the first of two demos I made of Lazarus, and it features a very different middle 8, subsequently rewritten for the second demo and final album recording.  

Lazarus was one of several songs that were based on a film script that I was working on at the time with my friend Mike Bennion, and the David mentioned in the song is a central character in that script.

THE NEW ALBUM RELEASED ON KSCOPE

Engineers, who currently comprise Liverpudlian multi-instrumentalist Mark Peters, celebrated German ambient artist/producer Ulrich Schnauss and London based drummer and composer Matthew Linley, have been creating mesmerising music with brilliantly shaded guitar textures and teasing lyrical ambiguities since 2004.

The band’s previous albums have garnered acclaim from all areas of the media - 2005’s debut Engineers ('hypnotic lullabies from beautific Brit newcomers' **** Q), 2009’s Three Fact Fader (‘a blistering statement of intent’ **** The Sunday Times), and 2010’s swift follow-up In Praise Of More ('should be given to most UK bands as an example of in making an album that is a joy to behold' 8/10 Clash); with BBC Music’s Lauren Laverne stating ‘Everything they do is brilliant’.

With German electronic genius, renowned producer/re-mixer and solo artist Ulrich Schnauss (Depeche Mode, Mojave 3, Death Cab For Cutie, Pet Shop Boys), joining Engineers as a full time member on their 2010’s In Praise Of More album his influence is clearly apparent on the tracks such as ‘Innsbruck’ and ‘Smoke & Mirrors’.

Ahead of the album release the track ‘Fight Or Flight’ is set to be released as the first single on 28th July, with a second single scheduled post album release.

This edition of Always Returning is released in a jewel case CD with slipcase.

In 2010 Anathema released We’re Here Because We’re Here, the band’s first new album for almost seven years. The album was awarded Classic Rock’s Prog Album of the Year as well as a host of other accolades and the producer, Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), has described it as “definitely among the best albums I’ve ever had the pleasure to work on.”
The band now return with Weather Systems, their brand new studio album. The album will be available as a limited edition 2 disc set which will come packaged in a deluxe digibook and feature a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album.

Anathema have been at the forefront of the UK rock/metal movement for many years. They began their journey as pioneers of melodic heavy music, influencing a myriad of bands to follow them, before outgrowing all genres and limitations as they fearlessly explored new territory and new ways to express feeling through sound.

Formed in Liverpool in 1990, the band’s sound, and musical vision has continually evolved over the ensuing years while always remaining true to their original goal of creating forward thinking, meaningful, passionate and honest music. The line-up is really a collective of two families who were quite simply born to do it. Anathema consists of brothers Vincent, Daniel and Jamie Cavanagh, alongside childhood friends John Douglas and his sister Lee, who is an incredible singer in her own right.

There is a deeper bond in the group that transcends usual band politics, ego, and self-interest. They have a shared vision: to make the most incredible music they possibly can, and it seems, despite the lavish praise heaped on the band for their past work, that they are now taking their work to a whole new level.

The album is the latest step for the band who over the last few years have truly emerged onto a higher stage... bigger and better tours, triumphant festival slots, recording at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studios, artwork designed by Storm Thorgerson and new management all give the sense of act who are destined for greater things.

Much of this is down to the band’s 2010 album, Someone Here Is Missing, and the reaction it received. While this release, along with 2008’s Tightly Unwound, was many people’s introduction to the band they have actually spent the past ten years quietly building up a dedicated fan base across the globe, selling over 50,000 records and nurturing their ‘bittersweet’ progressive sound.

All The Wars marks another leap in the band’s progression, as frontman Bruce Soord continues to mature as a songwriter and the band’s ever growing confidence and status allows them to move in bold musical directions, including the use of a 22-piece string section and a choir. Soord explains, ‘no expense has been spared regarding the production of this record but at its heart it’s still a rock record. It’s very heavy in parts and very delicate and beautiful in others.’

Following Storm Thorgerson's cover for Someone Here Is Missing, the artwork for this album features images created by the award winning photographer Mark Mawson as part of his Aqueous series. Shots from the Aqueous project were recently projected onto Buckingham Palace as the background to Paul McCartney's performance of Magical Mystery Tour during the diamond jubilee celebrations.

The Limited 2CD digibook edition with bonus disc featuring exclusive acoustic versions of tracks from the album plus a 2012 version of ‘Light Up Your Eyes’.

Podcast Thirty Five - Music from Amplifier, Steven Wilson, Henry Fool and The Pineapple Thief

It has been a really great 24 months for Amplifier following the release of the critically acclaimed self released double album The Octopus in 2011. So it is with great pleasure that they announce they have teamed up with the UK record label Kscope to build upon its success - with the release of their follow-up album Echo Street on March 11th 2013.
Amplifier frontman Sel Balamir said of the deal, “A lot of labels have courted the upcoming Amplifier release, but Kscope were the only serious label that seems not to be stuck in the 20th Century in terms of their artist relationship. Their progressive and flexible business model seems to come as standard as opposed to an additional recoupable service”.

Balamir continues, “We’re looking forward to having a great team of like-minded people to work with, a focusing of ideas that we can work with in coordinating our releases and really maximising the potential of the band’s increasingly prolific output”.

Kscope’s Johnny Wilks says of the new deal, “We have been huge admirers of the band for a good few years. So we are really looking forward to working with Amplifier and introducing them to new audiences around the world via the Kscope network. What a way to start 2013.”

The Pineapple Thief - One Three Seven (album montage)

The record label Kscope was created in May 2008 to provide a home for the growing post-progressive genre and an evolving, flexible and adventurous style of music without boundaries.

In recent years, a growing movement of bands has started to reclaim and reinvent aspects of the progressive, post-punk and post-rock genres, re-establishing a desire to experiment with eclectic musical sources and state of the art widescreen sonic possibilities. Kscope was created to provide a home for this evolving and adventurous style of music without boundaries, and was launched in 2008 with new albums from its first signings The Pineapple Thief and No-Man.
