Santino was a male chimpanzee held at Furuvik
Zoo in Sweden, who became popular because he
used to attack visitors who approached him, using
stones he hid hours before, thus demonstrating his
ability to think ahead. In December 2022, he was
killed after escaping from his enclosure. For us, he
is now a symbol of freedom and struggle, which
prompts us to reflect on the human condition and
question the Western cultural paradigm. Those
'fuck you' (Fanculo) we repeat endlessly are his
stones.
