Tydzień po wyborach prezydenckich, kiedy wszyscy dowiedzieli się o torturach i przemocy białoruskich służb wobec pokojowych protestujących, na strajki i akcje solidarnościowe wyszli pracownicy największych państwowych zakładów przemysłowych w kraju. Do 26 października zaproponowano Łukaszence przyjęcie warunków "ultimatum Ludowego", składającego się z trzech żądań: dymisji Łukaszenki, zakończenia przemocy na ulicach i uwolnienia wszystkich więźniów politycznych. Ta piosenka została napisana, aby zmotywować pracowników kraju do przyłączenia się do strajku. Łukaszenka nie przyjął warunków ultimatum, ale strajk nie wygasł, więc tekst jest aktualny i teraz. Machina władzy słabnie tak szybko, jak słabnie gospodarka kraju, gdy państwowe fabryki stoją- Łukaszenka nie ma szansy, żeby opłacać przemoc i utrzymać swój tron.

It is with great pleasure that Slow Dance can announce Polish born singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist Aga Ujma’s debut EP: Songs of Innocence and Experience. Aga Ujma is a captivating individual, both her music and personality brim with a childlike openness but also a hint of a fairytale darkness beneath the autumnal warmth.
 
Her sound follows the contemporary folk cannon of Bjork, Múm, Eivør, CocoRosie and Current 93, blending traditional folk with minimal avant-garde production methods and Eastern instrumentation. Her glacial vocals, underpinned by the delicate plucking of an Indonesian sasando and golden passages of gender barung, make her EP a beautiful homage to two very different places that are close to her heart. 
 
Song of Innocence and Experience, is named after a William Blake set of illustrated poems. Aga has a love of poetry and literature that can be felt in her lyrics. nosze, the middle track on the EP, is a Polish translation of an E.E Cummings poem that Aga says she always finds herself returning to because of its theme of ‘carrying love in your heart across spatial boundaries’. 
 
Opener, great expectations, begins with Aga’s trademark whispered vocals and sounds like a mythological siren call. In The Ocean, originally released as part of the yearly Slow Dance compilation, is a ‘delicately textured’ (The Quietus) track that combines her soothing vocals with syncopated rhythms and abrupt changes in tone performed on her other instrument of choice, a gendèr, which is a Gamelan instrument used in Balinese and Javanese traditional music. It is paired with a music video by an experimental animation Polish artist Gabriela Sibilska based in New York.
 
Lead single night echoes Vashti Bunyan via Aldous Harding, featuring a gentle sasando melody and an addictive hushed chorus with a hushed choreographed video here. In contrast, the last track, what to write about, is ‘the most raw’ and ‘unfiltered’. The repeated glissando noise is striking, serving to capture raw attention instantly. 
 
Aga was born in a sleepy town in the South West of Poland, to parents who were ‘quite conservative but open-minded and extremely loving at the same time’ - a duality reflected in her music. From an early age Aga had rebellious musician inclinations. When she was eight, she applied to study classical piano at the local music school without telling her parents. 
 
While studying musicology in Wroclaw, she heard Gamelan music for the first time. Something about it resonated with Aga, who says she felt ‘angry’ with her teachers that she’d never heard it before. The strong Western bias in music school combined with her fascination with the unfamiliar sound of Gamelan music led her to apply for a scholarship at the Indonesian Institute of Arts in Surakarta. 
 
It was here that she first saw Indonesian music played live, an experience she describes as captivating. There was a strong experimental music scene surrounding the University, and every night Aga would go to gigs where musicians would play with a sense of freedom she had never seen before. Part of this was the construction of their own instruments, something we have seen from Indonesian experimental bands like Senyawa.
 
Aga credits to Indonesia the experimental aspect of her music, which manifests itself on the EP in playful song structures and surprisingly placed glissandos. What stuck with Aga most about Indonesian musicians was their willingness to reinvent traditional music and do ‘crazy’ things with it. This kind of modernity, she says, is not possible with traditional Polish folk music. In Poland, folk music has such a revered status that to play around with it too much is considered offensive. This experimental approach to traditional folk, blending cultures together in a delicate arrangement makes Aga’s music a one of a kind insight into the childlike curiosity of musical exploration.

This is a Polish mixtape inspired by Chicago's electronic music scene.

The mixtape was made to highlight the recent European Chicago Footwork dancers meet-up in Berlin, Germany even more special.

Poland has prominent Footwork producers, so this mixtape was an opportunity to hear the sounds of both older and newer faces in this stylistics. For some newer producers, that was a first time to produce a Footwork inspired track! Many of the producers created their track within a month. Only one unreleased older song is by Polish Juke member in Poland, Bennelux.

Many people has put their attention into this initiative and they deserve a big thank you for making this happen:

Uwdar (czyli 1/2 duetu ETNOBOTANIKA) prezentuje album Broken Planet. Wydawnictwo kasetowe oznaczone w naszym katalogu jako SPRK004 to coś absolutnie wyjątkowego. To co pierwsze rzuca się w oczy to sam wygląd kasety. Postanowiliśmy nieco zaszaleć i po raz pierwszy zrobiliśmy kasetę typu full print, a ponadto na dwóch stronach kasety znajdują się dwie różne grafiki w rożnych kolorach, które dzięki efektowi przezroczystości nakładają się na siebie. Do kasety dołączona jest także wkładka z czterema dwustronnymi panelami wypełnionymi zdjęciami, które przedstawiają inspiracje dla tego albumu. Projekt kasety w oldschoolowym stylu współgra z muzyką, która nawiązuje do złotych czasów breakbeatu, jungle i trip-hopu. Dobrze znanym breakom towarzyszą nostalgiczne, syntezatorowe melodie, za które tak polubiliśmy ETNOBOTANIKĘ i oczywiście sample. Jest tu sporo gitarowych wstawek umiejętnie wyciętych ze starych polskich punkowych kaset, ale też echa głosów z VHS (np. klasyczny dialog z Serpico, Beavis i Butt-head!) czy wycinki audio z gier komputerowych z epoki (Tony Hawk Pro Skater). Jeśli pamiętacie czasy pirackich płyt CD i kaset, gdy królowały albumy Prodigy i Westbama, jeśli godzinami giercowaliście we wspomnianego Tony'ego Hawka czy Wipeouta, to ta kaseta zapewni Wam niezły nostalgia trip! Rzecz jasna nie jest to tylko odtwarzanie tego co było kiedyś. Uwdar sięga po oryginalne breaki i przetwarza je na swój wyjątkowy sposób tak, że cały czas mają taneczny potencjał, ale albumu jako całości, między innymi dzięki licznym skitom, interludiom i zmianom tempa, świetnie słucha się w całości. Z tego wszystkiego wyłania się coś jeszcze - opowieść o "Połamanej Planecie". Czy to komentarz do czasów, w których żyjemy lub kondycji nas wszystkich jako ludzkości? Przekonajcie się sami!

Uwdar (that is 1/2 of ETNOBOTANIKA duo) presents Broken Planet album. The cassette release marked in our catalog as SPRK004 is something absolutely unique. What strikes at first sight is the very look of the cassette. We decided to go a little crazy and for the first time we made a full print cassette, moreover on two sides of the cassette there are two different graphics in different colors, which thanks to the transparency effect are superimposed on each other. The cassette also comes with an insert with four double-sided panels filled with photos that represent the inspiration for this album. The cassette's old-school design works in tandem with the music, which harkens back to the golden days of breakbeat, jungle and trip-hop. Well-known breaks are accompanied by nostalgic, synth melodies for which we liked ETNOBOTANICA so much and, of course, samples. There are a lot of guitar interludes skilfully cut from old Polish punk tapes, but also echoes of voices from VHS (e.g. a classic dialogue from Serpico, Beavis and Butt-head!) or audio clips from computer games of the era (Tony Hawk Pro Skater). If you remember the times of pirate CDs and cassettes, when Prodigy and Westbama albums reigned supreme, if you spent hours playing the aforementioned Tony Hawk or Wipeout, this cassette will give you a nice nostalgia trip! Of course this is not just a recreation of what used to be. Uwdar takes the original breaks and transforms them in his own unique way so that they still have dance potential, but the album as a whole, thanks to numerous skits, interludes and tempo changes, among other things, is a great listen. Something else emerges from all this - the story of "Broken Planet". Is it a commentary to the times we live in or the condition of all of us as humanity? See for yourself!

After a three-year hiatus, Mindwaves Music awakens from hibernation and is rebooting with a brand new compilation called “Pnyø”.
Eleven exclusive and previously unreleased tracks, carefully chosen by the labels in-house artist Matilde Møller aka P(h)onyCat, merging between genres such as Ambient, Electronica, Leftfield, IDM and Glitch.

The selected tunes may be diverse in tempo and timbre, but the underlying feeling is melancholic, and imaginative - poetic and delicate. 
Even if "Pnyø" could be characterized as peculiar in part, instead of opting for the obvious straightforward expression, the release comes in an overall laid back vibe, which was compiled for your listening pleasure at home.

(the) Kurws formed in May 2008 as an unexpected result of a ping pong session. Since then they have pursued their own search, not so much in defined genres, but within the very foundations of rock, expression, and sound. It is a workshop where improvisation penetrates through composed material, a congealed form of the creation process. Armed with repetitions, recombinations, variations and contrasts, they frolic with memory and expectations. Post punk, krautrock, rock in opposition, funk, no wave - they present modes of playing, motives, and riffs we have heard time and time again in a totally different context, dissected from their original environment, placed side by side, used in a brand new manner, deconstructed and distilled.
