Indo Funky kinetics and percussion flexes meet in this deadly 3 tracker from London's Darama and Bay Area's Kush Arora. Touching on both producers' skillful blending of bassy South Asian workouts, this collab weaves grime, uk funky, and South African dance influences into snappy reductions that finds both at their most playful in recent productions. Flutes call at heartstrings and log drums and angular riddims keep you on your toes whilst their signature Punjabi rhythms build upon UK stylings.

"Heart Meter" kicks off the ep with bansuri melodies and minimalist snares, set to the tone of a heart meter, whilst log drums and counter melodies interplay gliding the riddim along.
2-step and Gqom flip heads on "Rattle", that runs Punjabi tumbi flute lines calling out to the motherland alongside boxy breaks that hit like cement blocks. Breaks and grown n sexy amapiano flourishes guide this roller till it flips to a gqom drop zone, a rare combo of Indian / South African vibes.
London indebted "Grid" hits with a Pulse X reinterpretation grime workouts featuring the double flute alghoza alongside ballroom impacts and cars zooming by with tablas.

Darama has cut his teeth in the British Asian Underground, gaining global recognition for his unique blend of South Asian percussion and UK bass-driven sounds.
Darama's journey includes sharing stages with the likes of Four Tet, Ben UFO, and Jyoty whilst playing at prestigious festivals such as Boomtown and The Warehouse Project. His productions have been found on labels like More Time Recordings and spun within Boiler Room, and Rinse FM on the regular. As a core member of the Daytimers collective, he contributes to the thriving British Asian underground music scene. He's also a co-founder of the immersive record label Bubblin alongside yourboykiran and runs a radio show on Subtle FM allowing him to share cutting-edge percussive club sounds.

Bay Area veteran Kush Arora aka Only Now has been dubbed an “arch hybridizer" and approaches his art with wild abandon. His trademark deconstructions of Punjabi music has found itself in circles ranging from dancehall to industrial music since the early 2000's. Recent collabs include: Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura drummer), Runkus & Royal Blu, Flore (Polaar) and Upcoming collabs are with Virginia's Prison Religion, Uk's Ahadadream, and Chrisman (Nyege Nyege Tapes). Kush has performed alongside DUMA, Andy Stott, and Shackleton in the past years, and been seen in Red Bull SoundClashes and NTS radio specials. Work in the early 2000's found itself rooted in the experimental chapters of SF, alongside folks like SOTE. This lead it's way into the dancehall/dubstep world where he collabed and remixed people such as Cutty Ranks, to Gyptian and Gappy Ranks. His releases have been featured on Bokeh Versions, Polaar, Dutty Artz, Club Yeke, Infinite Machine, Discrepant and countless others.

Hello dear listeners, Your Character presents new premiere


An international collaboration between two producers, which was born despite 9212 km distance between Vilnius and Khabarovsk. 5ZYL is already known through his presence on Jensen Interceptor’s “International Chrome”, debut EP “Smoke These” and fresh “Main Goal” EP on PZ Records. Shit Control (Rodion Kirsanov) is an emerging producer from Khabarovsk city located at Amur river next to the most eastern border of China. Synthesizers lover and co-founder of the local underground music movement Tom Tom was already recognized by label CYBERJIT. The shape of “Krug” EP was started in Shit Control’s studio, topped up by 5ZYL in Vilnius, spiced up with False Persona remix in Bournemouth (UK) and mastered by Assembler Code in Sydney (Australia). Perfect testimony, that music is an international language without physical, cultural and worldview boundaries.

Back in 2013 I was at a free Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs concert in the park. I was singing along to most of the songs, and my girlfriend at the time was giving me this puzzled look. I asked her what the funny look was all about, and she said, “How do you know all this Yacht Rock?”. I started cracking up because I had never heard it called that before. We were both born in the 80’s, so we didn't really start listening to music until the 90's, and she was shocked that I knew all this soft rock that came out before I was born. She joked that I should make a mix of it just for fun, so I did, and it ended up being an extremely popular mix of mine. I know it's been a while, but I decided to make a part 2. Enjoy!
