20 years before the emergence of STS9, NASA sent Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 on a mission to the farthest reaches of the solar system and beyond. Each of these probes was equipped with identical Golden Records, special messages attached to what Carl Sagan called “a bottle launched into the cosmic ocean.” They contained numerous images and sounds from throughout the world, pieces of music from various cultures, a map identifying the location of our planet, and other information for whomever, or whatever, might find them.

While the Golden Records included greetings in 59 languages, they made no mention of nations and borders, wars and rivalries, or anything else that divides us. What they did mention was life, love, peace, birth--the things that bind us to one another and to the planet we call home. 

The Universe Inside is a reflection of this message. It is a story about human identity and the magical truth of who we are, where we’re going, and our place in the Universe. It says we are one, made of stardust and the forces of nature that evolved over billions of years. Connected by the sun, moon and stars, we are the living, breathing conscience of the Universe.

Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Vic rose to public awareness as a member of the eclectic hip-hop band Kids These Days and founder of the Chicago collective SAVEMONEY alongside Chance The Rapper and other local upstarts Joey Purp and Peter CottonTale. His solo debut mixtape INNANETAPE dropped in 2013, igniting immediate accolades (including a spot on the XXL Freshman cover in 2014), and a fortuitous introduction to Jay Z that led to a record deal with Roc Nation. Mensa went on to help Kanye West pen his esoteric song “Wolves” from The Life of Pablo, drop three critically acclaimed EPs (2016’s There’s A Lot Going On, 2018’s Hooligans, and 2020’s V TAPE) and his debut full length The Autobiography (2017), as well as furthering social causes in his hometown through his nonprofit SAVEMONEYSAVELIFE. In both music and his social activism, Vic challenges the American system responsible for a history of overcriminalization, racial injustice, and issues that affect the lives of people in underserved communities, while showcasing profound levels of consciousness and self-reflection.

Recently,The Southside of Chicago has been associated with much positivity, and is widely considered one of the most difficult environments to overcome. However, some of the most beautiful roses can come from the most damaged concrete.  Derrick Rose, Kanye West,Common,R.Kelly, and President Obama, to name a few, all are inspirations and incredible examples of humble beginnings, perseverance, and great triumph. Marcus Kincy’s story starts alike on the south side of Chicago. A product of his surroundings, Kincy was raised by his Great-GrandParents, and elders in his community. From an early age Kincy was blessed with the gift of Music, and started playing drums at just 5 years old. To escape the harsh realities of life on the Southside, Kincy spent most of his time in church, where he first learned to play the piano at age 13. Like his parents before him, he attended the infamous, Fenger High School and grew up in Roseland and more specifically, "The Hundreds”. During and most notably, after high school Marcus began playing piano and music directing gospel music all over Chicago and North America. In just his 2nd semester at Trinity Christian College he met Rex Hardy Jr. who believed in his talent, and wanted Kincy to tour with Keri Hilson and The Dream. Marcus was at a crossroads, he deeply wanted to finish his education,but couldn't help but to follow his heart. This was the turning point in Kincy’s career. The “A Different Me'' tour was a huge success and opened up doors for him to learn the basics of the business working with artist like,The iconic Queen of hiphop and R&B, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Diddy Dirty Money/Puff Daddy & The Family, Nick Jonas/The Association/The Jonas Brothers, Kendrick Lamar/Schoolboy Q, Nicki Minaj, BjtheChicagoKid, Jay-Z, and a host of other talented artist. Even though Marcus was grateful, he felt he was not fulfilling his life's purpose. Making music and inspiring the world is his lasting goal and he recognized that now is the time to start his legacy among his era of creators. Kincy prides himself on being a diverse singer/songwriter/composer/producer and took the next step in his music development in the means of artistry and production. “20s”, Kincy’s debut project, is set to release late fall 2015. Kincy’s music can be described as true heartfelt “Trap&B”,( R&B with a heavy urban undertone), and he strives to make good music for good people while sharing the raw experiences of were he came from and how he was able to overcome, and succeed. Be on the lookout for new music from Kincy as he has been working with Chicago’s own BjTheChicagoKid, and a host of other phenomenal creatives. The Story Continues…...
