Like the forgotten soundtrack to an overcast day, "Going Down" by Hungarian producer AMB seeks to explore an inner restlessness in the listener. A perfect storm of downtempo, techno, RnB, and future bass vibes permeate this seven track EP, acting as the perfect illustration of this songwriter's diverse skill set. Moody strings are interwoven with shadowy bass laid bare on a bedrock of intelligent percussion, setting up a tender yet climatic atmosphere for the album. Toward the end of the journey, legendary bass music producer The Widdler flips "Night Slide" into a highly emotive excursion through future garage, concluding things in a fitting fashion. The entire release is available as a free/pay-what-you-want download via Gravitas Recordings, marking a sense of AMB's gratitude toward his fans as well as life itself.

The story of Tbilisi’s seminal techno movement couldn’t have been written without at least a wink and a nod in Nebbieri’s direction. She’s a homegrown and integral part of Bassiani whose musical references include Kate Bush, Psychic TV, Brian Eno, Autechre and Venetian Snares. From this you might be able to infer an ambient and math-heavy streak in her output and during her more purist techno and breakbeat outings that could be up for debate. Not here though: for experimental mix series Zenaari, Nebbieri’s been given carte blanche to really delve into her most profound influences, and they include not only music, but a fascination with sci-fi that really fleshes out her creative vision (picture neon-lit cityscapes and dramatic blood-red skies). There’s something strange and healing at work for Zenaari Mix 009, nostalgic and familiar yet fresh and visceral. Through her glitchy and evocative patchwork of tracks, Nebbieri finds soul in the machine and develops her own parlance with it: dial up clicks, ritualistic echoes and sentimental meditations, this is an hour of incongruent beats and humanoid synths for a coming age.

Brazil-born, Barcelona-based DJ and producer ANNA has garnered international accolades from Mixmag, BBC Radio 1 and others with recent releases on the likes of Diynamic and Turbo Recordings. But her skill set reaches far beyond the studio realm as 2017 marked her busiest year to date. Beyond a whirlwind of festival appearances (including Movement and Awakenings), ANNA had the opportunity to perform at iconic clubs such as DC-10 and Fabric. 
This passion for the dancefloor was fuelled by a youth spent in the DJ booth of her father’s night club – and it now leads to her first outing with Kompakt: SPEICHER 101 carries the DNA of both the studio head and the club dweller, crafting two propulsive, massive belters out of simple, but effective ingredients. HIDDEN BEAUTIES dominates the A-side with raw bass power and sizzling drops of acid, while the flipside brings you THE DANSANT, one of these spiralling minimalistic techno bangers that just seem to grow indefinitely. The release is also a personal milestone for ANNA, as Kompakt’s records have always been a staple in her sets: “I have so many records from Kompakt, I’ve had them since I started, and even though I played so many different styles through the years, I can safely say that Kompakt has always been in my crate.” Her very own release on the label, however, seemed “like a distant dream”, she says. Turns out it wasn’t that distant after all – thanks to her knack for seriously catchy techno with a punch, nurtured by hard work and persistent focus. A perfect fit for Speicher.
