TM404 & Echologist (aka Andreas Tilliander and Brendon Moeller) collaborate for the first time on ‘Bass Desires’.

Two of the leading artists in dub techno and ambient electronics produced four cuts between their enviable studios in New York and Stockholm, with the results sitting in between the powerful oscillations of Echologist’s previous EP for Kynant (KYN005) and the slo-mo, Roland jams TM404 specialises in.

The two A-side tracks are the most direct, with hard-hitting drums, soaring atmospherics and boomy reverb. Flip over and the record spaces out into cavernous bass vibrations; first the subterranean ‘Odyssey’ and then the melodic, modular twists of the 105BPM title track.

Max has been active for over 25 years and is regarded as one of the pioneers of Italian techno and electro. Having recently joined the ranks of Adam X’s Sonic Groove imprint, Max continues to command a strong presence in the wider techno scene.

His first offering on Kynant is ‘Black Light’, a four-track EP of deep and physical, avant-garde techno. The A-side begins with the swung drums, drone and perc of ‘Black Light’ and continues the distorted, broken-beat theme with ‘Solar Request’. On the flip, ‘Biocentrism’ is more direct with its bleeps, sharp high-end percussion and weighty 4x4 kick. The master of hypnotic techno Donato Dozzy provides a remix of ‘Biocentrism’, looping the feedback into a powerful groove for the DJs.

Black Sand is a new collaboration combining techno sounds old and new.

The duo consists of Max Durante (who produced the first Kynant record) and fellow-Italian, DJ Datch. Their ‘Desert Island EP’ is heavy on drum machines and classic styling but produced with modern design.

'Abyss’ and 'Black Sea' begin the record with restraint, building a groove out of tense layers of underwater atmosphere and a tough low-end.  The B-Side pushes the sound harder; the creeping drone of 'Dead Sea' is tailored for DJs to gradually build a room's energy, whilst 'High Tide' is peak-time material noticeably inspired by the 90s.

The latest edition of our Breaking New Soil series proves that time flies when you´re having fun: This is number 10! Once again presented by label head Gregor Tresher, and this time with two exciting contributions by the man himself, we are proud to announce a very versatile lineup: We have Hybrasil, who Gregor met at a gig in Dublin, presenting a beast of a peaktime track with „Flexo“. Returning to the label is Ferdinando Apicella from Naples, better known as Kernel Key, who delivers another non-conforming techno jam that will go big with all the real Techno heads. Next up we have label favorite Fac3off - returning with not one but two amazing tracks presenting his signature sound - we´re sure we´ll be hearing a lot more from this talent in the future! The Yellowheads, hailing from Spain, had a storming EP release on BNS last year and return in very strong shape with „Caelum“. Last but not least there is Antipolar from Cologne, with whom Gregor recently shared the decks at Cologne underground club „Gewoelbe“ - he´s new to the label and is debuting with a very unique sounding production called „Mandal“. We hope you enjoy playing and listening to Breaking New Soil Volume 10 as much as we enjoyed compiling it.

Bjarki leads a pack of international artists who in the past few years have taken a hauntological approach to re-moulding the scents of breakbeat, rave, jungle, trance and IDM into sounds that are entirely their own. Already this year he began his own label bbbbbb with artistic sparring partner Johnny Chrome Silver, released under new alias Cucumb45, performed his new live show at clubs and festivals from Mutek ES and Peacock to Printworks, and recently announced a US tour for July.

TRP015 finds Bjarki in typical, monstrous, floor slaying form with four trance leaning tracks that have proved an inspiration for Nina Kraviz’s DJ sets over the past year. Bjarki takes key aspects of trance and takes it for a headspin into the unknown - mangled percussion, disorienting voices, unravelling textural layers, sub aquatic bass frequencies and intense melodies. All make for a uniquely irreverent take on a much maligned genre that most of us secretly adore..

Ramiro Lopez links with Andres Campo to supply the latest release on his ODD Recordings with 'Pachamama', a rhythm assault utilizing blinding sirens and hypnotic tension. With support from the likes of Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Pan-Pot, Amelie Lens, Charlotte De Witte and Alan Fitzpatrick the track's been getting regular play at festivals and clubs around the world. Now 'Pachamama is finally ready to be unleashed to the public. 

The two producers touch on the vision and inspiration behind the collaboration: “Pachamama emerged in a very natural way, two friends and colleagues decide to get together in the studio and create something after an intense day of laughter, friends, food and hangover. The name is linked to what happened that day. It’s our first official sound adventure together and we’re super happy wih the result and with all the support it’s received so far.”

Look for 'Pachamama', which is also paired with 'Poolside', to be released August 25.
