I have been interested in the concept of ironic samples for some time now. the "ugly" meme sounds that should be total no go. but in recent years i heard some musicians incorporate these sounds into their music. The first time i noticed it was when Mura Masa used sounds that sound like they where sampled from a Roadrunner cartoon on his song Blessing Me. Then 100 gecs sent out The most wanted person in the United States, with the iconic boing sound, that sound like an arrow hitting a tree.

I hope I don't come off as insincere and forced when I'm leaving a comment on someones song here on soundcloud. I decided that if there's any thought that pops into my head when I'm listening, why not get that in writing, and make someones day a tiny bit better. It doesn't have to take more than 20 seconds.

when I'm listening to music here, I try to make a point of leaving a comment. I know it makes me happy whenever somebody leaves one on my stuff. Just seeing that small orange dot on the bell icon is enough to give me a tiny serotonin spike. So thats why i feel supporting people and their creative work, is like shooting tiny darts of serotonin across the globe

i suddenly got a <3 from duncedog and saw he had been liking a lot of stuff in  a short amount of time. then as i went to look at his page saw he had renamed perc to huh?, with a beautiful photo of a spring onion on the ground. then he changed it to a cd with kanji on it. then i began spamming refresh with my thumb to get a live update on what he was up to. he played around with some different names and title for the track. the last one was a tnt on the ground. thought it might be a way of promoting new tracks coming. then when i want back to check later the page was deleted. the dunce is no more. i hope he comes back in some form on some platform

tried something i have been wanting to do for a long time, which is recording live guitar for a tune, so that's me playing on my old fender practice amp because its the only one i have at the moment

played on a old guitar i bought on a second hand instruments market last year, i started by playing around with it because it was a long time since i ha d been playing, but when i finally decided to record the melodies i needed, something happened with the input on the guitar

first thought it was bad jackstick cable or the pedal so i tried everyone i had. same problem - white noise coming out of amp. but in the end i ended up sampling a lot of the bad reception sounds, so that's actually me audibly sighing at the end of the track as i pull out the cable in frustration

i also sampled me hitting glasses of water with a teaspoon and flicking a rubber band for asmr sounds in the intro

the first part is meant as a gift for my niece, sort of like a lullaby, then it took off in a different direction for the second half lol

I made this out of different wips and scraps from a collab project i did with some buddies for crossover for charity

A crack appeared in the office building in the middle of the floor. Susanne nearly tripped over it and dropped her files onto erics favourite coffee mug. It didn't shatter but the handle broke off in the process. The floor was made of concrete and provided solid ground for the the employees on the third floor without actually having in ground underneath. The crack had appeared seemingly overnight without anyone remembering it being there late afternoon the day before. There was a dandelion bud peeking out from the middle of it.

(I will write a little more to the story every now and then)

I'm in germany right now and thought it would be fun to upload a track from another country, so I started to look through my phone for wips  and stuff I could upload. (Demo) because I'd like to have a go at mixing it again

This was one I made in september 2024. It was me trying to make a saves song. There are some really rough spots in there, like the eq that randomly appears on the breaks and some of the instruments are really clipping. I was proud of the percussion I made out of sampling a nightingale singing from youtube lol

I went camping in a shelter for the night and didn't really get any mosquito bites. When i came home the next day, the first thing i saw was a mosquito sitting on my door spyhole. Little did i know this was an omnious precursor, because that night in my apartment i got so much more mosquito bites than in the forest...

I really like mallgrab and his 4x4 dancy tracks, so i wanted to try and make a 4x4 that was also much longer than what i usually make. Basically to not worry about pacing and let the elements of the track take their time.
Also the length of the track just happens to be the date of upload 9:08

I would like to say the words soul mind heart body are about taking care of your mental and physical health, but it was really just me that found a stock robot vox plugin (milktoast), and i needed some random words to test how it sounded, and then i kept them lol

the mix is super muddy but just imagine it's been popped in the microwave

I'm going to do a little track breakdown:

For the beginning i used a bell sound from serum with some flanger and a stock plugin called effector. The chords i made using a warm sounding organ that is a preset from analog lab v called migrating lead.

For the bossa nova part that starts at 0:11 I used a drum loop called SO_PD2_100_drums_purple_bossa to give it that bossa swing. Then comes a reggaeton rhythm, a genre i haven't tried utilizing before. For those heavier drum hits i used a kick, hat and snare, all from the SOPHIE splice pack. This reggaeton beat will be contious throughout the track. Here I also introduce some very whimsical sounds that comes from one of my favourite games Tomba for PSX. I ripped one video from youtube with a sound bank from the game and plucked out some random sounds.

Then comes the latin/bossa breakdown at 0:36 (I was very satisfied with that part) I used a bunch of different drum hits. One of the are snares and percussive hits from another splice pack, Andreas Klein Jazz Drums. The strange bass/horn notes are a serum sound called BA Snailed. There's vox-like synth sound that makes gives a toykeyboard choir sound (it's from Analog lab V but i dont remember what it's called). And the fast little synth riff is made with just the plain default sound from when you open up Serum.

The flute/alarm sound during the bridge is this small sound that i sampled as a one shot from this saves sound:

The heavy bass synth that I used for the later half of the track is also a preset made by him that I got from his vital sample pack. I have used those sounds alot, all the way back to when I made I was a leaf like you once. You can get the sample pack here:
