I really like the accent that sounds like a traffic light. It's stuck in my ear. Even though the space is dark, the signal sounds create an image of a bright future. Good, even better work!

Im Sommer 2015 verbrachte ich zwei Monate (Juli und August) in der NES Artist Residency in Skagaströnd, Island. Jetzt, sechs Jahre später, habe ich ein elektroakustisches Stück komponiert, das ein wenig von Island inspiriert ist. Die Komposition besteht aus bearbeiteten Perkussionsklängen und unbearbeiteten Klängen (nur wenige Sekunden) von der CD „Duo Svanni – RÆTUR“ von Hildur Wågsjö Heimisdóttir und Júlia Traustadóttir Kondrup und der CD „Sounds of Island“ von Hafdis Bjarnadóttir.

Program Note
In summer 2015 I spent two months (July and August) at the NES Artist Residency in Skagastrrönd, Iceland. Now, six years later, I created an electroacoustic composition, which is a little bit inspired by Iceland. The composition consists of edited percussion sounds and unedited sounds (just a few seconds) of the CD „Duo Svanni – RÆTUR“ by Hildur Heimisdottir and Julia Traustadottir and of the CD "Sounds of Iceland" by Hafdis Bjarnadottir.

This is the closing track off of "Hyphae", a collection of tracks I made with fellow ambient guitarist Wodwo (Ray Robinson -- https://soundcloud.com/user-364196783-552705040). 

It all started with discovering each other’s work on Soundcloud and grew into a lively exchange of ideas and sketches. With both being on a quest to take the less obvious sonic route, always searching for the uncommon guitar sound, and their fondness for spacious and slightly unsettling ambient compositions, the sessions were kickstarted with the appropriately titled "Germ", which gestated into what became the first completed track of this long-distance collaboration between Munich and Derby. 

The title for the second track, "Hyphae" came to mind after reading Merlin Sheldrake’s fascinating “Entangled Life”. It seems apt to draw parallels between the massive mycorrhizal fungi hyphae networks (the "Wood Wide Web") that connect different species of plants and transport substances and information between them, and the to and fro of abstract layers of sonic matter that passed between the two musicians. 

The collection closes with "Simulacrum", probing the terrain where a bright major key tonality coalesces with a bit-crushed low-end undercurrent. And despite what your ears might lead you to believe, no keyboards or synths were used in any of this music!
