Desde principios de los 2000, los teclados filosos de la cumbia villera marcaron a una generación entera. Conocemos esos bajos marcados, las percusiones apresuradas y las letras que narran la fiesta y el barullo en los barrios. Damas Gratis? Pibes Chorros? Lo que pocos tal vez imaginaron es cómo ese ADN musical atravesaría fronteras, para encontrarse con la  "movida tropical sonidera" de Puebla bajo un contexto distinto, pero con la misma necesidad de expansión del ritmo y de la sustancia.

La cumbia poblana se posiciona como un fenómeno que no puede explicarse sin mirar hacia el sur. ¿Estamos ante un caso de plagio deliberado, de homenaje, o simplemente de influencias colombianas cruzadas e inevitables? La pregunta sigue abierta, pero la cumbia poblana funda una nueva búsqueda hipnótica y lisérgica del baile y del goce. Se agregan en la cumbia poblana mucha variedad de tambores, percusiones y samples de effectos de sonidos. Las letras son en cambio mucho menos explícitas y reducidas, dejando partes instrumentales que expanden la idea de trance musical.
