This is my first song for this year's 50/90 songwriting challenge! (https://fiftyninety.fawm.org/)

I've been thinking about little ones leaving the nest quite a lot recently. My kids are 10 and 7, so not imminent, but it still makes me feel a tiny bit sad (and a tiny bit relieved). I certainly know others with kids who are closer to that point, so this one's for them 🙂

When I'd finished my bits on the track, it felt like it was still missing a little something. So I sent it over to my man @nahlejmusic for some sweet percussive magic and, as always, he promptly delivered the goods. Thank you!

My process in a nutshell: Using two instances of Ableton's Sampler loaded with my guitar recordings, I sequenced the provided "John Cage" chord, using the first version of Marc's MIDI file, so it's actually the wrong Cage chord --- hence the title "noncage". 
With some pushing around of this source material, a slow-morphing, overlapping atmospheric track fell into place. 
To top it all off, I just flipped the whole thing, turning it into a lovely background echoey backwards guitar concoction. 
So as to make things more listenable, I provided a little bit of supplementary fodder and smoothed out some of the rougher edges in Cubase.
