Y O K O C H O’s debut on Ransom Note Records sub-label, Insult To Injury (run by remixer Timothy Clerkin) is a low fidelity, nostalgic tour de force.

Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, Y O K O C H O has inherited the New Beat mantle and run with it; putting his own, inimitable spin on it! The EP will also be available on cassette tape, where it truly belongs.

Lead single ‘Everyday Diamonds’ is a feel-good summer hit, perfect to lift one’s spirits heavenwards, post-lockdown! ‘Data’ brings us crashing back to earth with some distorted, visceral 303 action, providing a down & dirty antidote to the single.

‘Other Side Of The Mirror’ brings yet more lofi drum machine groove to the table, before we’re drowned in a sea of lush, ambient vintage synthesizers at the breakdown. ‘See You There’ is the perfect way to close out – if robots in the 80’s dreamt of paradise islands, this was to soundtrack to their dreams. Sublime.

Label owner, Timothy Clerkin has produced a 303-propelled, Acid-House dance-floor destroying remix of ‘Everyday Diamonds’, which provides a counterpoint to the wobbly tape, slow-mo originals, ensuring that the Y O K O C H O sound can be translated into any club environment.

Written during the unwavering uncertainty and weirdness of 2020/21, Quivver’s third studio album is a body of work that lives and breathes in its own universe, on its own terms. Experimental, thoughtful, loaded with faraway dancefloor dreams, it was his debut album on Bedrock and a huge highlight of the year for the label. 

Now, as the raving world reawakens once again, it’s time for more revelations as Quivver hands over the stems to some trusted peers for this exciting remix collection. Each cut tailored for the dancefloor, the collection starts with an almighty jolt of euphoria as 8Kays takes the lead with her divine take on ‘Hold’. 

Currently heralded as a future hero by Beatport in their Beatport Next campaign, Ukraine producer 8Kays once again backs up the hype with a pristine and dramatic flip that adds a whole new twist on Quivver’s original.  

8Kays is not alone as Losless steps up next to bring his own sense of techno je ne sais quoi to ‘Funkily’. Adding extra swing and broken drum flare to the already juicy, rolling original, there’s a sudden sunlit bonus midway as the synth heavens open to reveal great swathes of emotion.

The feels continue on Lexer’s remix of ‘Nothin’ New To Feel’. One of the most heartfelt moments of the album, Lexer maintains the powerful yearning sentiment of the original with the plaintive vocal are refuelled with sweeping bass textures and sudden flips into brilliant moments of urgency.  

For the final leg of this remix adventure we head north west to Toronto, home of Weska who brings the EP home in his own fast lane. Deep, thundering techno with a latent warm groove, Weska pays full attention to ‘Atomised’ while making it wholly his own.

After crossing the country from mountain to sea, Pierre Prière dedicated his latest trips to India to a sluggish and studious quest to unearth the subcontinents’ holy Bollywood grails, rediscovering it through its musical heritage. 
Weeks spent roaming the streets and suburbs of Delhi, Mumbai, its Kandivali neighborhood. A patient exploration of hidden gems in their dusty caves and warehouses, sometimes sleeveless and roughly piled up, warped by heat and time, in mint condition; litres of chaï. 
A few synths, drum machine and scissor cuts later, Kandivali Edits takes shape and offers a selection of his fav tracks, properly edited to his own sauce. 
Like a Proust idli, Kandivali Edits unveils an intimate and personal trip to the heart of India’s melodic 80s/90s cherished by Pierre Prière, rocked by the compositions of legendary Bappi Lahiri, A.R. Rahman and Kalyanji Anandji brothers.

Hailing from Hamburg Hadi combines a past as a drummer with an early crush for DnB. After hosting his own live Radio broadcast as a teenager he got into vinyl and played at several parties.

In order to combine his passion for music and traveling, he made music-connected journeys to Georgia, Albania, Italia and China getting in touch with the local scenes and playing a tune wherever needed.
