What we value sometimes doesn't get us what we want. I watched my programmed need to be productive get in the way of the loving person I wanted to be for my kids. I know this is a universal theme for parents: wanting to give their kids the best life they can, but in the process, maybe we miss being the best thing kids need at the time. And perhaps the world just isn't set up for us to succeed at that, no matter how we try.
