Slime welcomes the future grime mastermind Threnody back to the label for his debut album, ‘Shadow Motion’. Riding high after releasing the single ‘Envy’ to much acclaim, here he continues down his singular path of production and extrapolates the ice-cold rhythms and melodies of his former work into a more dynamic template that further reinforces his standing as one of the most innovative artists working within this genre.

From the cascading bass stabs of opener ‘Fractured 2’ to the chilling bleeps and heavyweight rhythms of ‘Tribal’ , Threnody plays with the medium more than most would dare, productions bursting at the seams with energy and innovation. Half-step grooves meet house beats through the grime cypher with incendiary results on killer tracks like ‘Bash’ and the cinematic ‘Octopode’, whilst on ‘Hologram’ the science fiction overtones develop into bubbling paranoia and icy shards of drum work.

As the album evolves and mutates, every track confounds your expectations and delights in its own labyrinth textures, taking the listener past the pattern of the usual genre confines into a strange and unknowable wilderness of sound. There are very few producers who can sustain this kind of atmosphere over an entire album, but Threnody has achieved something quite remarkable with ‘Shadow Motion’ and placed himself in that threadbare pantheon of the truly forward-thinking artist.

Copy is an old friend of ours from Portland, OR. He’s a criminally underrated electro producer, with releases on Audio Dregs. In the past he has remixed rap and R&B songs (he devoted whole mixtapes to remixes of Bone-Thugs and R. Kelly) so we hit him up to contribute to our project. Copy’s “Summertime” is just so funky. This guy gets the groove just right. It’s brilliant.

It’s a huge honor to have had Thom rework this track. After alt-J mentioned liking our music in an interview a few months back, we contacted them and they asked to trade remixes. You can hear our version of  “Hunger Of The Pine” on their SoundCloud page (soundcloud.com/alt-j/story-4-sleeplessly-embracing-a-remix-by-clipping). We dig the weird skittery rhythm of Thom’s “Inside Out”. He’s a really sophisticated percussionist and his remix has such an alien sense of time.

After the last battle with Neotech, VHS Glitch was victorious but for a few survivors.
Some of these survivors, bent on world domination, have begun a series of attacks on the 'Forgotten Land,' a haven sheltering the last bastion of humanity still free from the influence of Evil Technology. If they can't be controlled, they must be destroyed or it will be the end of Neotech's plans.
Our hero must now save these people before Neotech wipes them from the face of the earth. It will not be easy, but VHS Glitch is the only one who can stop the Forgotten Land from becoming a LAND WITH NO FUTURE.

[Nothing] On Spotify!!!

This was recorded off of my output bus before being mixed externally with the output of my kyma system and other hardware. So, it's missing some of the extra squishy tweaks and audio splinters that were presented live, during sunrise on Saturday June 13th 2009.
    
    Some of these tracks are going to be featured on the two upcoming albums I am working on currently. I am shooting to have at least one of them out by next spring. Some of the tracks are also available for release as singles on V.A. comps. If you have any leads for record labels who would be interested, let me know.
    
    I am busy until the end of July, and am free for bookings for the rest of the summer. Get in touch with me if you would like for me to come play a party.
