Meet our mysterious, sexy and groundbreaking queer artist Thomas Costantin!

Thomas Costantin, DJ and sound/visual artist currently based in Milan. Since 2014, he is the resident DJ at the historic Plastic Club. He is a music consultant for numerous high-end fashion houses. His cosmopolitan soul has a deep attraction not only for music, but also for cinema, costume, analogue photography, vintage atmospheres and technicolor. 

The liveliness of Red is the color that best represents his work: intense, energetic, deep.


*What pushed you towards music production? Where did the inspiration come from?

When I started to produce, around 2018, I was listening to more or less 12 hours of music every day, playing 3 or 4 nights every week. I was thinking that I also wanted other people to listen to my music, to create something new to share with my community.

* Do you think music interconnects with culture?  How does the environment you live in affect your music?

Yes, absolutely. Especially nowadays music is really melted with all the rest of art and cultures. I see music as the perfect way to express, also images and ideas.
Music and life are super connected. I am really inspired by people. My friends and other artists really help me in my endless music research. I am attracted to the different mixes of cultures in music. 

* Do you get inspired by any other form of art?

Sure, I love to paint also, especially with water colors. I love cinema, especially the vintage ones and I’m used to working with images, actually I see myself sometimes more as a multidisciplinary creative director than just as a music artist.

* What makes a set a good one?

The selection of the tracks. Technique is also important, but I think it is nothing without a good selection. When you play music you also play with emotions.

* What’s the process you follow when bringing tunes together? Is it instinctive only or do you plan ahead?

It is quite instinctive but I also work every day on archives and on folders in my computer. I play lots of different sets, with different sounds and vibes, for different crowds, so I absolutely need discipline and order.

* What would you like to say about your podcast?

I am very happy to share this set. It was a very special night with the Kanto family in one of my favorite cities, which actually is Paris. Honestly, I can’t wait to play with them all together!

Dear Berliners (and all other people in the world),

thanks for making this night in Beate Uwe so nice and special! The Beate was really full from the beginning on and it was very nice to catch that energy at 4:30 after the incredible @seniorcitizen_wav. Lot's of love goes out to @downvienna for creating that party and all the great artists who joined them: @deepandi, @thisisrakaethe, @schnuppo, @seniorcitizen_wav and @marliblue_sofyah <3! 

This is set is very raw and includes both fresh tunes (including a special down party intro ;)), tunes I play regularly and some old tunes I almost never play, so I hope it is not getting boring :). After an hour of playing my Maschine got mad, so there maybe some quirks here and there (and no live drumming in the end :-I).

We actually began our love story 1 year ago to this date, when we met for the first time at the May 1 We Kuyen party in 2023. When the beautiful We Kuyen crew invited us to play together at this gathering 1 year later, there couldn’t have been a sweeter way to celebrate our anniversary 🥹 what a special convergence of everything we’ve been spinning up over the past year! Pinerolo is a restaurant in Oslo. I was commissioned by the owners to compile and mix three mixtapes. Their directives were rather vague, lending me an opportunity to pick from any genre, not care too much about how commercial the tracks were and just create an eclectic but cohesive compilation that would contribute to the relaxed vibe at Pinerolo. This is what I did.

Rampue - Live At Robot Heart - Burning Man 2015

Der Sonnenuntergang stellte sich langsam ein, unser kleines Open Air empfang die ersten Gäste und ich war auch schon so gut wie durch mit meinem Set. Der nachfolgende Künstler konnte nicht kommen und so spielte ich weiter bis Tobias neben mir stand. "Hey was hältst du davon wenn wir zusammenspielen?!" - "Jo klar warum auch nicht." Als wir uns dann auch auf die nötige Geschwindigkeit geeinigt hatten, sollte die wilde Fahrt los gehen. Mit verträumten und melodischen Tracks verabschiedeten wir die Sonne und begrüßten die Nacht mit ein wenig härteren Klängen. Ich hatte echt viel Spaß bei diesem Set und möchte es auch deshalb mit allen Anderen teilen. Großen Dank geht an die Geburtstagskinder, die diese VA möglich gemacht haben und natürlich auch an die, die an diesem Abend dabei waren.

Becoming even sharper receptors of energetic information and spreading their life-loving spores, the plant kingdoms have formed a coalition with the galaxies. Together they devise to transmit love more efficiently, generate greater clarity-infused oxygen and continue to carry water, sunlight and healing through their underground networks so that it can be absorbed by all the lifeforms who feel lost among the stars.
